Threads like this always remind me of an old colleague of mine - back in the days when we were still allowed to call chalkboards blackboards ( wink ) - he used to say "you can always spot a teacher - they're the ones who wash their hands before they go to the toilet"! sealed

OK, get ready for too much information! 26 years ago, almost to the day, I cleared a foul waste from a manhole at my fathers that was backing up. I had elbow length gloves, a bucket of disinfectant and a set of drain rods. A few says later my right testicle swelled up greatly and was cleared with antibiotics and a weeks rest. 14 months later a recurrence and testicular cancer diagnosed. Orchidectomy and a month of radiotherapy. I don't think it coincidental.

Just  to  remind  you,  Easy T,  of  what  lurks  down  drains  !!  There  was  an  article,  on  t.v.  Red  Button  Service,   about  a  sewer  in  London  somewhere,   which  contained  a  250 yard  long  "Fat Berg"  containing  every  imaginable  item  that  should/shouldn't  be  put  down  any  sewer  from  cooking  fat  to  condoms  via  'disposable'  nappies  and  all  points  south  !

Apparently  the  relevant  authority  reckons  its  going  to  take  several  weeks  to  shift  it,  'cos  they  cannot  just  break  it  up  &  move  it  further  down  the  line!!.

The problem stems from the parsimonious design of public toilets - not just the caravan Club though.  It has long been established that the contamination originates from particular orifices of the human body, and through the clean-up operation that is required afterwards, it transfers to hands. Yet the layout of virtually every toilet in the land requires the user to handle their clothes before getting access to hand washing facilities.

They then wear the same clothes for the rest of the day in many cases, and sit with them in contact with seat cushions, etc.Even rest their hands on the clothes when sitting at a dining table.

At least those who exit right away have only their own germs to contend with.
