Hello everyone just thought I'd introduce myself! I'm inNorfolk and been caravanning with my dog for the last year. It would be great to sometimes meet up with some fellow solos just to make things a bit more social! Be nicer to go further afield too knowing there would be others about!

Hello and welcome to our hobby and CT. We're a friendly knowledgeable crowd so if you have any questions ask away. You'll probably get more than one answer proving there isn't just one way to do things.

There is a Solo group who post meets on CT search for solo's I'm sure they'll make you welcome.

Hello Meg thanks so much for replying and giving me so much info. I shall definitely make contact with the New Companions. The contact name and details is very appreciated. I'm glad to hear there are plenty of other solos around like yourself.

    regards, Andrea.

If  you  search  thro  the  threads  started  by  VIVIEN ( they  are  just  above  this  one  in  the  "Solos  touring"  area )  you  can  get  info  of  how  to  find  C&MC Solo  members  --  I  believe  that  they  tend  to  use  Faceache  or  some  such  'cos  its  easier  than  trawling  thro'  here.

Hi Andrea and welcome to solos.  I am from Lincolnshire but haven't been out with any Solos since New Year family has got in the way!  I met a lovely lady last year from Phoenix another group for singles and she was from Norfolk.  I have two dogs with me by the way.  Hope you make as many new friends as I have done!

Hi pippah45 thank you for your welcome. You and the others who've responded have made my month! I normally have a friend or two visit me on site but this time I didn't and it felt a bit lonely! There was a lovely friendly and helpful couple and gentleman on site which was nice - and to be honest I'll normally get chatting a bit to somebody but it would be great to discuss what I and others have been doing on a day and feel more part of something. I'm glad you've made lots of new lovely friends I shall look forward to that also. I shall join the Phoenix club too and see what the CC Solos on Facebook are up to. I've just signed up to the New Companions - and maybe I shall meet you and your two doggies and the lady from Norfolk on our travels soon! I hope you manage to start your Solos again soon.

    Andrea.

Hi Im up in East Lothian and currently have a VW T5 which I love to bits, well driving but after a couple of days staying in it.  I really need to get home to my comfy bed.  I have my dog, Millie, she isn't very keen at going away, but as long as I take her to a beach or somewhere where she can have a good walk and a good sniff about.  She is happy as long as she is with me.  I have only toured around Perthshire, Fife and East Lothian so far.  Going away to Lake District and Northumberland over the next few months.  If you are ever heading up to Scotland, let me know.

I have a keen interest in becoming an assistant warden, but with me being single doesn't look like it is what they are looking for.  Always asking for couples.  So may start looking for next year and see if I can find a job being a warden something maybe in Scotland or Northumberland way.  Feel I could do with a change of job.

MacCrally  hello and welcome. Please don't want to be home to a comfy bed 😲 treat yourself to a mattress topper. There's a thread on here somewhere with lots of posts but searching isn't easy.

We have duverlay gold topper, bought before the name change probably 9 years ago one of the best purchases we've ever made. We indulged in the zipped fitted sheet too. Certainly not cheap but means we never want to go home for a comfy bed! In fact I'm cooler 😉 on it than our mattress at home.

Others have bought from various places Dunelm mills being one place I recall from the thread. I found the thread it was called mattress topper 😂😂😂

    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/welcome-hobby-talk/caravan-motorhome-chat/mattress-topper/

Sorry wardens seem to need to be couples might be worth a phone call to confirm and don't forget the other club 😉.

Meg thank you at least I am home now!  My brother is still in hospital but my bit has finished for now at least.  There is a limit to what we can do I am afraid but I did get a few days of adventuring and chilling in lovely weather in France.  smile

Hi - if you venture to the West - my schnauzer would like to meet you and yours

We only go within about 2hrs drive of Hereford.

I also belong to New Companions - it has encouraged me to go it alone knowing that there is at least someone on site with a friendly face

Hi Macrally, I live in East Lothian too.  I'm just feeling my way round this sight as I was interested in the Solo site.  Sadly, my husband died only just over 6 weeks ago and I'm going to try to keep using our VW Transporter.  I had a couple of nights in Melrose recently but it wasn't very pleasant being on my home but I'll just have to get used to it.  I think next I'll go somewhere we hadn't been to together.

Hi ropebeach and welcome - I hope you manage to get out and about happily.  It sounds a good idea to find new places to enjoy - there are so many lovely spots to caravan out there.  I find my dogs are very good company - but Solos and New Companions add another dimension.

Hi Ropebeach and also Macrally.  Its good to have others posting from Scotland.  I live near Biggar (as my forum name hints!) Maybe we should try to have a gettogether locally. As there is no private message facility on this forum its a bit more difficult to communicate. Meg

Hmm, looks like there is no alert either so unless you keep looking at thread, you won't know if a post has been answered. Is that correct?

Yes I am afraid so - we used to be able to "follow" but no longer.  Maybe one day the Forum will be as we all wish?

Sad but true. No pm facility either. Didn't take you long to work out the pitfalls 😉

Seriously I hope you don't give up trying to join in I'm sure the solo's will make you very welcome.

Thanks Pippah45 and Bakers2. Arrived at Stonehaven site after 2 nights at Forfar but don't know if I'll stay a 4th night. Loneliness getting to me a bit, too soon after being widowed I suppose but I've got to keep trying eh? 🚐

undecided, Andrea Hi. It's two & half years since my Wife died .YES you will get lonely ,but in the early days 'solo's' was a great help .Still get pangs and upsets ,triggered by the silliest of things ,but most days are now better than others .cry.Hang on in there ,but chapter in my Nephew's book (that my Wife edited for him) helped ,,,"Let Go " made me realise the problems ,and to deal with them.  Good luck ,It'll take time !!wink

Back in the mists of time there was a well supported suggestion for members of CT to display a sign/logo/something in the window of their caravan when they were available to chat to others - solo or not.

I thought it a great idea but the sign never appeared.

That's one of the problem with this hit-or-miss forum - it is well nigh impossible to go back to a thread to look for something, so if it doesn't appear in what one sees each day it gets missed.

    Do you have a link?

You're welcome. I'm impressed I found it as I can't say I'm good at this site. Under normal circumstances I'd be embarrassed to admit that. But to find something on this site is a badge of honour 😂.

Most folks on CT are really helpful, I've had a load myself on thriving without EHU. What goes around comes around, and I'm happy to have been of assistance. 😃

I have the sign but I don't use it all that often - for various reasons - I enjoy my own company and so far no one has ever knocked on my door for displaying either the Solo or the New Companions one.  Knowing my luck someone might when I was least prepared or turned out to be someone I couldn't get rid of!
