Awning rail
Just got back from a long weekend in our Bailey senator but on the way there my Tom Tom took me down the wrong road it was not wide enough so I had a miss hap and knocked the top of my awning rail luckily not on the side we use the awning. Does anyone have a clue how much it would cost to have it fixed? Plus do you think I would need a complete rail or can it be fixed by cutting a piece out and joining it. Thank you

How bad is the damage? Has it flattened the profile? Or just closed the gap? You can purchase a rail chasing tool that opens the gap up.

When we damaged ours in France a few years ago. I actually managed to rip the bottom offside 60 cm away from the van, our dealer would only repair a complete section to a join, about half the length of the rail. I am not entirely sure on cost, as there was also some damage to the rear panel that needed a plastic weld. I think it was in the order of £250 to £300.

OH did ours by reversing into a stone wall in France. Right on the corner. Not much damage but he did buy a short length of rail to replace it. But on reflection we decided against it as it is slight and honest damage. Chap who sold us the rail reckoned it was a diy job.

I suppose wether it is DIY or not would depend if the rail was pre shaped. I cut the damaged section of ours off in France as it was sticking out from the van and a hazard. The bit I cut off was curved, so if I could have purchased a bit similarly shaped DIY would have been possible. The dealer said they had no equipment for shaping awning rail and the section they replaced came pre shaped. I must admit I was a little surprised as I had envisioned something like a pipe bender and they would just replace the damaged section. However, the overall job and the plastic weld to the damage on the rear panel were first class, and you would not have known the damage had occurred.
