I have  thetford CWE toilet in my caravan

the blade has broken I have been on the website which shows that by reversing the cover and turning anti clockwise the lid rotates to facilitate the removal of the lid. I have tried this but it will not budge any ideas on how to do this

the reason it wont budge is probably that there is limescale around the seal.....

these lids do come off, but they can need a mighty effort to get it started.

perhaps poir some white wine vinegar into the cassette (say one third full) and turn the cassette upside down to allow the vinegar to dissolve the limescale....

alternatively, blace the cassette (flap end down) into a vucket of hot water to try and free up the lid.

once you het it moving, you will be away, perhaps a dab of vaseline on tne rubber seal when putting back together....

White vinegar works wonders. Would not use petroleum based lubricant. Would use silicon spray or even olive oil

Thanks for the replies, I cleaned out the groove with a screwdriver then cleaned it with white wine vinegar left it for 10 mins to soak.  I then got a small screwdriver and prised the lid a little then twisted as the instructions and hey presto it worked

    Again thanks for the replies

Hope you are changing the lip seal while you have it stripped down Albert? Might as well. Funny I came across this thread, I was only watching the very same video last night!!

After checking the prices the seal +lip seal to the toilet +the blade was £25.00, the whole lid replacement was £40.00 so I have ordered the whole lid then everything should be new and trouble free.  Again thanks for the help
