After all the recent discussion about increasing the number of sites open all year round particularly to provide for the apparent increase in all year motorhomers I expected to find an increase in members booking when the Jan-March 2018 bookings opened yesterday. It looks as though I was wrong.

I booked York Rowntree Park at about 11.00am yesterday without any delay and then Chester both for long stays. I have just checked and both so called "honeypot" sites York and Bristol still had vacancies for the whole period. So much for the many posts about never being able to get on either.

I can only guess that either many members did not read the announcement in the magazine regarding winter booking opening day or more than I realised prefer a warmer climate as some of my friends do.

    I think that there is a problem with booking for Jan-Mar 2018: last night, and again just now, I tried to amend a booking we have for November, for Meathop Fell, to January.  It told me that there is no availability.  So I then checked the calendar and after the 3rd of January all dates are yellow, indicating it's not available to book.

    Another gremlin hitting the beleaguered website?  Or is the site no longer open all year?

    Think I may ring during office hours tomorrow when I get a moment.

    When we were at Meathop in July I seem to remember seeing a planning notice on the site for a new administration block and some other works. Maybe it is closing in Jan for these works to be done. If you ring them tomorrow as you suggest they should know

    That could explain it.  I did wonder whether it was closing for work to be done, but it isn't all that long since they refurbished the toiletblock, so I dismissed that idea.

    Will ring later and report back!

    Had a Live Chat with someone and yes, the site is closed for redevelopment from 3 January.  However, when I asked when it would re-open and what the work was, I couldn't be told that as the lady who has that info is on holiday until next Tuesday!  I did suggest putting the info on the website in the site's information page and also that I thought it was odd that only 1 person in the office seems to know and that when she isn't there, nobody else knows!

    Still, I now know the reason why I couldn't amend it to January.

    And..... this thread seems to be duplicated, aaaaaarrrrgggggh!
