Hi All,

We are looking to go to Tenby in September and would like a site close to or in Tenby. I know there is Freshwater East but thats 8 miles away. Does anyone know of a site, commerical, club or CL.

There is a site called Well End Caravans which is a little way out of Tenby but on a bus route.

Yes!  There is a first class CL at I think Jefferston. I reported on it the year before last!  Too late now to look it up but will confirm Saturday !

Daughter getting married tomorrow so I am a bit tied up at the moment!

Can recommend Hillcroft CL at Kilgetty an award winning CL.

Bus stop outside to take you into Tenby.  Great for walking to Wisemans Bridge.

Nearly always fully booked but if they have room you will be delighted.

I'll second Hillcroft CL at Kilgetty and there is another CL just up the road in the village, can't just remember the name but it looked very good when we stayed at Hillcroft. smile

Thanks for all the replies. I tried Hillcroft but they are full for the whole of September. I have contacted Well Park who have pitch for the week we want. Thanks to all for the replies.

Freshwater East was fab and newly refurbished now I believe :) Handy for the Beach, that was the main draw. Other sites we saw weren't as close.

Tenby wasn't that far away. We were close to Pembroke and that was lovely, a Castle nice coffee shops and Pubs, we did Manorbier Castle and the village, we went pony trecking at a local stables, Carew castle and mill was in range.

I, we, must say I couldn't fault Freshwater Easts location.

That looks really good, unfortunately no space for when we want to go. The lady I spoke to on the phone seemed very nice.

Windmills Caravan Park looks OK to me, a 20 minute walk down intoTenby, has a review score of 9 out of 10 from 28 reviewers on  UKCampsite.co.uk . I haven't been there but I would take a punt on it and move on if I didn't like it. There are so many others in the area .

Probably  best bet is Haven about £11 per night. Bus service adjacent.

How does one get a pitch for £11 pn, as they are advertising them from £20 pn?

I don't go for maybees. Try 3 nights on 19/9 or 26/9 and you get Grass TOTAL £24, Grass & EHU £27, Super£39-60. Total cost. I hink that answers my point.  I will also get a10% disc for repeat usage .Perhaps nellie only does selectives. Other Havens have even better facilities and deals, but then you may not want to go there.

I assume Fisherman is referring to Kiln Park? I have just tried to book a pitch for mid September, including the weekend, and all I got coming up was a grass non electric pitch which is not big enough for my motorhome. If I was keen I would give them a ring just to make sure.

When I spoke to the lady at the CL mentioned further up thread she mentioned that there is something called an "Ironman Competition" going on in the area  at that time which might explain why sites seem to be full?

Just a thought. Motorhome Parking in Tenby is (was last year) very good - if you look on the local council parking web site it is (was) covered explicitly. The car park is on the same side of town as Freshwater East so it was easy to get to and we did not find it a problem staying At Freshwater and driving to wherever we wanted to go..

Thanks Fisherman. I've tried putting in 4 days and got £48, EHU  on grass, including £1pn for our dog, at the end of Sept.. Don't know what the site is like but will keep it in mind.

Nellie, we are fans of Haven (good quality facs and locations, great prices)......but, do it out of season.....

if you went to Kiln Park (weve been 3 or 4 times) when its remotely likely to be busy, its a different place....as are most of their sites.

in the downtime, its great, no one around, stroll to the beach or into town, great cycling directly off site onto a Sustrans route, etc....

however, the pitches at KP are a bit small (but Haven always seem to suggest that xxx van wont fit when it does, so check with the local warden) and, therefore can feel a bit close together, when its busy, you will really notice this....

however, out of season at a tenner or so a night, definitely worth a look.

I'll do that. Might just look for a H/S pitch, but that will depend on cost and what Cls have pitches available in that area. Still not sure we'll head down that way, yet, but will have to sort out our trip very soon.

Have you tried Northcliff caravan site?    It is walking distance from the centre of Tenby along the clifftop of North Beach.   Here is the link to their website.
