Yes, we removed the lift over bunk and cushions, then bought a 4 ft mattress , fitted great and worked well. We just removed mattress and put bunk snd cushions back  when we sold it on.

I did consider on previous caravan. When we used an awning we would dine in the awning and leave bed made up through about 15 weeks of our time away. However the remaining 2 weeks would have been in December and the awning a tad cool so would want to use the diner over that period.

Other than that I would probably had two narrow singles from somebody like Bellafied with due consideration to weight and the difficulty of manoeuvring a double. .

Have you thought of topping the cushions with a Mattress topper - I find them very comfortable.

Yes. Once we got rid of the kids we had the same design and turned one into a fixed bed. Just set it up and keep it as a bedroom. Oh the fixed bed- I wouldn't be without it!

Great idea - go for it. We wouldn't be without our fixed bed and wouldn't contemplate life without one. There are many members who say they are a waste of valuable space but when making the bed involves nothing more than shaking a duvet ....
