Oh roobz, that was such a sad story. Sparky never really settled and he was stressing Harry so much that he had to go back to setter rescue. They discovered that he had a brain tumour which was why his behaviour was so unpredictable and he had to be put to sleep - only 10 months old, so sad.

But we later adopted Lady who'd been shown and bred from and lived most of her first 5 years in a kennel. And she's fantastic and gets on so well with Harry, so a happy ending to that story!  smile

That'll be Trellisick, Malcolm, one of our favourite places down here. Pop down there in the morning and walk the dogs round the woodland walk, stopping half way round for acoffee then off to The Punchbowl & Ladle at Penelwey for a leisurely lunch. Magic! smile

Thanks for reminding me, Moulesy, I'd forgotten the name of the property.

I also remember the coastal walk from near the Caravan Club site there and you could buy a cream tea from the warden.

Yet ANOTHER paper exercise.Went to the M/home to try and fit a 'baffle' behind the nearside headlights ,where water spray is getting into the units from the front wheel. But couldn't get the wheel nuts undone after last weeks re-balancing.Torqued up too much.Oh,!! low and behold ,a new 18v li-on 380mn unit by Wolf at £99.98 has just come on the market for wheel nuts !! Got to have that !! Bought it .Will let you know how it performs !!laughing.

Lovely end to the day, we've just got back from a meal with our eldest and his family and in laws.

The kids for once behaved themselves, no falling out no tears or upsets, lots of laughter and leg pulling.

DIL struggling with her daughter (first born) going off to boarding school tomorrow, so looking a bit glum. We've had a little talk but think she will struggle tomorrow, can't believe that was me 32 years ago when my eldest started there, seems just like yesterday. Gran daughter is fine and full of excitement.

Yes but even on a seasonal pitch you can only stay a maximum of 21 days at a time. So you still have to go away somewhere else for a minimum of two nights before you can use it again. You can take the caravan with you each time you go away so you will be staying on other sites if you do so. Alternatively, you can go away for two nights whilst leaving your caravan on the seasonal pitch. You can extend the two nights to a longer period of time if you wish, so you are still free to go wherever or whenever you want to.

Rumbles of thunder early this morning, but no rain.  Bright sunny start to the day. Guess holiday makers in the area have enjoyed a good couple of weeks.  Another week or ten days and i will venture into Yarmouth, keep well away at holiday time.  Just a day of pottering and fence painting today.

Interesting to hear that Ruby as we have considered buying a caravan again and using a seasonal pitch but we also felt we might feel too constrained. Having paid the fees we'd feel we'd need to get our moneys' worth and probably wouldn't. smile

It depends how you use it. If you use it all through the season but only go away for one or two weeks to other sites, you'll still get a lower cost deal than otherwise.

Perhaps the 21 day club site rule didn't apply to you, Rubytuesday, in that case. Commercial sites may well have different rules but different prices to go with it!

Each to there own brue.  It just wasn't for us.  It was only 1 1/2 hrs away from home so every time the sun was shining we could get in the car and go and stay as long as we wished , also done lots and lots of sightseeing.but after 4mths we had been seen and done most things Within a 2 hr drive , after 5 mth's

" what are we going to do now " 🤔 Lot of money invested in fees so had to stick it out, we decided it wasn't for us and how we missed the open road , so decided to sell , we were very fortunate once word on site got around we were selling , we had lots of enquires and took no time to sell , after 2weeks at home , yes we done the right thing

We did think about at seasonal pitch when one of our favourite sites introduced a few a couple of years ago, after a lot of thought we too decided that we would probably get fed up after being on the same site, and then would end up towing van to other areas for a holiday. laughing

Bought a second hand Kampa awning off eBay,  only used once, they changed to a motorhome, seller also threw in extra monsoon poles and awning carpet, bargain at a lot less than half the new price..well pleased.  Looking forward to trying it out at the weekend.

Rubytuesday,  hope your motorhome search goes well and you find something you really like.

We still went on the National in Sandringham and to Scotland whilst having a seasonal pitch in Worthing.

You could spend the whole 21 nights on the seasonal pitch and then extend your two nights away to three or four nights and turn that into another area holiday before returning to your seasonal pitch for another three week rest!

    Very pleased with myself yesterday.

My neighbour had decided that he wanted  disability scooter. His caravan already has auto engage powrwheel and EP levelling system. He was undecided about new or second hand. I spent an hour doing some research and reading reviews. Sent him down to look at a large selection in a local dealers on Sunday and to try out. I also highlighted a particular sprung suspension model that split into 5. He came back and said that the one I had suggested was ideal and far better for him than others. It was £700 VAT exempt. He was also after a rear bag, full cover and other accessories which brought the price new to about £850.

I did a search on 'Preloved' on Monday and other sites and found a 'Brand New' scooter of that model for £350. He went to see it yesterday and bought it. It had never been used for more than a few yards in the house. A lady had bought it for her mother who sadly passed away the day it was delivered (before it arrived). It had all the accessories that he had wanted plus a set of regatta wet weather gear. He was thoroughly made up. All paperwork and it is under three months old.

I expect that for some a seasonal pitch could be ideal. about 20 years ago after my wife's death and the youngest was turned 17 and had her own social life (and an older sister nearby) and I was still working. I had my caravan on a site near Garstang. For me it was excellent. I had it there for two six month seasons from start of April until end of September. during the 26 weeks I would probably spend 10 long weekends there of 3 or 4 nights. I used to fish and there were three fishing ponds, a pleasant canal nearby, River Wyre and other fishing lakes. It was a great deal and I was grateful as the caravan was stored in a locked compound free of charge and pitched for me when I phoned.

    Plus 1

Much adjusting for all concerned, including her brother 😉.

All part of allowing them to grow and spread their wings. Didn't mean our daughter to fly so far 😂😂😢😇

Beautiful start to the day here, clouded over now and only 20.5c but so humid and still. Not sure the washing will move at all 😆

I want to kill the growth in our block paving, if we'd known the growth needed treating 2 or 3 times a year we'd have had concrete or tarmac 😲 and I like neither! But they keep forecasting rain..... need 24 hours after applying, rain doesn't materialise! What's the chances that if I apply it today 😉. Has anyone got a foolproof method?  We've been had doing on our knees takes an age and not a pleasant task, we have a long handled brush for the joints - results in blisters and backache! Pressure washer. But the growth from weeds to algae returns quickly. I'm going to try plain cooking salt this time. I do apply that to the proper weeds as they appear.

If I don't do block paving I'll continue with pottering routine jobs, little ironing bathroom deep clean, sewing machine mending for a friend.

We were supposed to be taking two friends to RSPB Conwy today. Unfortunately I have a sore throat and a temperature and so thought it best to call off rather than pass on my germs.

I can't believe that it is 5 weeks since we were last away in the caravan. Off again in a weeks time. First stop Betws-Y-Coed and so may well pop to RSPB Conwy.

EasyT hope you feel better soon. I haven't managed to get out as planned except to water our daughter's garden a few miles away. I agree about seasonal pitches suiting some at different times in their lives, I can see why you enjoyed yours.

OH has gone off on a hybrid car hunt, I know how long that will take so have opted to stay put. wink
