This post was a reply in the Motorhome section, but I felt it very relative to caravan owners.

I have a new Kampa 330 air and bought the Limpets. They do the job very well. HOWEVER !! when I went to remove one of them which was over the graphic sticker, it had damaged the graphic leaving  a 40mm ring of the graphic removed. Not a pleasant sight on a 2 year old caravan. Before any comment, I did not over tighten it, just enough to take up the slack on the screw head + 1/4 of a turn.
I am trying now to have a repair to the graphic, but they come as a complete set for the caravan at £486.......That's no joke.
I am now looking at the Badge which fits on the Gas locker box door, to place over the damage. This is less than £20
I also notice that where the limpets were straight onto the caravan wall, they have left a witness ring which wont come out with a wax polish. I think it has removed the silver seal coating which I had put on from new.
My advice.....Leave well alone. Get the vertical poles snug around the buffer on the wall

another example of manufactures rushing products onto the market without full detailed testing.

I mean who would put decals on  caravan?

Next we will all be expecting to tow a caravan on the road and not expect potholes to 'cause' damage

I now have these Limpets for a new air awning and I must say I am impressed and didn't have any of the problems that you described Corona

Hi; I'm about to buy a set of limpets and am wondering if the hole punch is a standard eyelet punch; what diameter hole does it punch?

    regards

I bought new awning and limpets in May this year. I haven't had any problems with marking of the caravan sides, but I have had four of these limpets snap overnight in not very strong wind. At £20+ per set think I will go back to the poles. Not up to the job I'm afraid.

    Definately wouldn't recommend these.

I have just used the limpets with my new awning on my Lunar caravan and after removing the limpets they have left rings on the caravan  which I can not get rid of. Do these people not do lab tests on all material used in the caravan industrial.

Do Not Use if you love your caravan

Punch diameter is 9mm external, 7mm internal, measured using engeneers vernier & genuine Kampa Punch., The hole is actually 8mm.

The punch is supplied with three spare pads the cutter presses against. They get marked by the cutting process. A Cheap & simple way to prolong the surface or use a badly damaged surface is to cut a strip about 3cm wide from a plastic milk bottle & use that over the cutter backing pad.

The Limpets...Kampa do say on their site not to mount them on Decals & to ensure the surface is Clean, No Brainer to wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
Do NOT over-tighten, 3/4- 1 complete turn is sufficient to secure immovably. Any more will likely break the centre securing thread/post.

Iv'e been using the Kampa Limpet suckers now for 4 years on my Kampa Air Classic on a Lunar Clubman, in all this time two have failed due to me overtightening the screw/nut so I personally think they are ok, if expensive?

You cant expect them (or any other similar device) to stick on, or partly on the graphics they just don't work and the manufacturers advice is not to stick on graphics

I have discarded the use of Kampa limpets as I’ve found them to be inadequate. I now use mirror suckers as they pass easily through the awnings limpet holes and screw down the limpet white canvas holders onto it. They may be difficult to remove but, hey, I’m not chasing detached limpets every day.
