Hi all

After a rubbish experience back in June when we hired a very expensive dog friendly cottage in Cornwall which turned out to not quite so friendly as advertised , we have gone ahead and bought our first van! It's something we have talked about for years and we are excited to start our new adventures!

We will be travelling with our English Bulldog and two pugs and will probably have loads of silly questions......

Our first trip is in a few weeks back to Cornwall where our daughter lives but we hope to get to see  much more of the country as we get in the swing of things! We are also looking forward to meeting people along the way  - Hey we can't only talk to each other ha ha !!

Happy to be a part of all this :)

Regards Mel and Mark

Hi, M&M. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience in the cottage but you've made a wise choice in opting for a caravan. It's a great way to holiday with dogs.

Great place Cornwall, some great sites, and people. Gwithian is good just at the and of the A30 easily reached, and about as far down as you need to go as everything is handy, a good dog walk. We like Porth Beach, just outside of Newquay another good site, a no dog beach but there is the headland you can walk on again just across the road.

Were just back from Harlech and used http://www.minydonholidayhomepark.co.uk/, which again was a fab site and very dog friendly. With a year round dog friendly beach and the site had a gravel path in the dog walk.

The Chatsworth site(see pic) was fab for dogs too. Whilst they had to be on a lead, if you had an extendy lead they could have some freedom in the grounds. Plus the walks behind the farmyard are free and good. Keep them on the lead even by the van, as ducks and pheasants just pootle into your awning :)

Thank you! I will have a peek!

We are booked into one on the Roseland peninsula as it's near Truro where daughter lives but love Cornwall generally so all good!

Really looking forward to getting started, Jan the Van is just sat on the drive atm , BUT proving a very nice little place to sit and glug wine :)

The Roseland is nice, M&M, if a little off the beaten track but you probably know your way around as your daughter lives nearby and nowhere is lvery far from anywhere else in Cornwall.

    Have a good time.

Hi Mel and Mark.  Welcome to Club Together and all the best for your new holidaying adventures.  The good news is that all Club sites are dog friendly, and the majority of non-Club sites too (but always a good idea to check these).  If you say which part of Cornwall you want to visit, no doubt you will get plenty of recommendations and advice.

Look forward to reading your posts.

Welcome M&M. I agree with D3an no question is silly if you don't know the answer.  Have a wonderful time.

Welcome from me M&M - ask away- we all did once and as Pippah says, if you don't know the answer, no question is silly. The combined knowledge on here is truly staggering and there will always be someone who can answer your questions no matter what the subject. I hope you have a fantastic experience with your new toy- so much better than a cottage!!

Hi Mel and Mark.  Welcome.  We're off to Merrose Farm the week after next.  Never been there before.  If that's where you're going too, we might bump into each other (not literally, I hope). wink

Welcome from me as well! Sad things didn't work out well with the cottage, but you won't regret buying a caravan. We take our dogs all over with us, long trips, short trips, beach, Moors and Dales! Always have a good time. All Club Sites take dogs, some are really good locations for dog walking, others not quite so good, but do check out the Certificated Location section on here and in your handbook. Some of these are absolute gems, very dog friendly and in brilliant locations. Cheap as chips as well!

Hope you all have a good timelaughing

Hi Guys I am a caravanning virgin! I have just done the towing course (it was brilliant and informative) and as a direct result of Jack who ran the course I pick our van up next Saturday. Very excited but also a bit hesitant but can't wait to get going!

Hi M&M, we have returned to the caravaning early last year for the very same reason as we have 2 border collies. In fact we have just returned (yesterday) from that part of the country. We spent 9 nights at the CC's Sidmouth site and can highly recommend it. and would be a good stop over on your way to Cornwall if you wanted to break up the journey.

If you need it I can post all the info for you on the dog friendly pub's beaches etc that we found whilst there.

    Enjoy your new hobby smile
