I've never understood the logic behind some competition prizes. Best photo competition prize .......... a camera !

Golf days invariably have longest drive & putting comps, both of which allow you to win ..... you've guessed it a driver & a putter :)

    Is it me ???

The T&C's page isn't working for me, so I think Ro should have posted that the club takes ownership of your photos and can use them as they wish.  Perhaps that changedsurprised but probably notwink

I am pretty sure they have changed their view on the copy write issue, no doubt due to previous protests from Club Together. I think it fair that they demand the ability to make use of any photographs submitted. What I am not sure of is condition 5 where they say that the photographs has not been published elsewhere. All my photographs are publish on my website so does that prevent me from submitting one of those photos?

As to the prize I suspect it's just for simplicity, has a bit more about it than £300 worth of M&S vouchers, at least the camera should be with you for years to come. The camera in question would be useful even to those photographers armed to the teeth with DSLR's and Len's !!!!

Thanks David, the copyright remains with the poster but the club can use the picture in any way that they wanted to.  On the basis described in the T&C's the individual, in effect, really give up ownership by allowing the club to use them outside the competition so no snaps from me.

I don't have a problem with the Club building up a library of photographs which is what this competition is helping with. It's not as though I am going to use any of my snaps for any professional purposes.

You only agree to the Club using them. I can't see that they could stop you using them again in the future unless the terms of that use stipulated the same use as the Club that they had not been used elsewhere? My only gripe would be is if I was a non winner but one of my pictures was used at a later date then it should receive due credit and a payment for that use inline with what you would get if used in a comparable magazine.

That is a rather stunning image AD, beautiful. I am not sure what it is, but the little triangular shape in the middle (possibly a light?) looks just like a hot air balloon drifting up into the clouds!

Hi David, If you've used the picture before on your own website this is absolutely fine and you can still submit an entry. The clause is there in case the photo has been used by other companies and as such may have a copyright clause on it already. I hope this clears up any confusion. It would be great if you could enter a photo. smile
