A good idea for you for the winter, KjellNN would be a stay at the Crystal Palace Caravan Club site in London. Plenty to do in London, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, museums, restaurants of all types of cuisine. Excellent for shopping too, no matter what the weather, there'll be plenty of bright lights and entertainment there!

Wild horses for me too - although a very brief visit is suggested by my son who lives in America - he thought he might be able to slot his sister and me in - in to visit him Central London for a couple of hours. Much as I love my son dragging me to Central London for a visit that short doesn't have a lot of appeal! Since its midweek he is suggesting his sister can't go (I should think not all the way from Devon!) Hey ho.

And London is even more crowded as visitor numbers to UK are up 7% on past years, but it is still a wonderfull place to visit we have been numerous times, as it is half hour by train for us(and free),but we have yet to more than scratch the surface

wow, I didn't realise how complicated shredding is these days, we've let the stuff to be shredded in the back of the garage mount up and we kept saying we'll have to get round it sometime. Well today was the day, except after half and hour and me being covered in bits of shred we barely scratched (shredded) the surface. We have six (yes six) black bins bags of old accounts, receipts, minutes of meeting...
So we decided to call a company to come and collect it and do it for us. But what options we have. For £80 we can have them actually come to the house with a shredding vehicle and for 'maximum security' can watch while its done in front of us. Or they can take it away and under CCTV (which we can watch) it's shredded at the depot and we get a certificate of shredding which which say the shredding standard used was. We had to choose from. That costs £60. We're going for that.
I actually wanted to wait for bob a job week but I've been told they np longer do that.
Now going to look at frames for the certificate

We've just had a cream tea as part of my birthday celebrations. This included a slice of birthday cake, scones with butter, Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. It's been a long time since I last had a cream tea, maybe a year ago!

Thanks, H&T. Yes it's been a nice day but it's not over yet. There's rump steak, chips , peas, onions and Portobello mushrooms for dinner tonight plus a bottle of red wine but first I have to get to work for a four hour shift this evening. I'll be leaving for work in about twenty minutes and should be home before 23:00 tonight for dinner.

Finally tackled the ironing this morning well it was raining so why not.
Pot of soup made and lunch over, time to go into town to collect m/h from garage. Oil drained and filter changed, topped up and left over night to see if there are any leaks. Nothing this morning so as we suspected the filter had been changed but someone forgot to do the oil. Anyway all looks to be ok now and extortionate amount we paid for oil at Carlisle refunded. The garage requested that we take it for a good drive over the next few days just to make sure everything remains ok before we head off on holiday.
Dentist visit for both of us after collecting the m/h, all good no problems with teeth.
Sun came out briefly about 30 mins ago and the sky is looking a bit brighter so have cancelled building the Ark for a bit longer.
Corners, I love shredding. At work it was a great way to get a bit of peace.

I hear our home city has armed police because of V Festival 😢. We remarked on security at Bristol Balloons, didn't see a policeman, there were security folks ensuring decent behaviour, didn't see any bad behaviour, but were discussing bbq in an unauthorised area. Bbq out and no attitude. Is it overkill in Essex?? Thousands at free event in Bristol no checks no bans on taking things in such as drinks, backpacks etc.
Found out last night bbc East had fire alarm go off on Wednesday evening causing switch to London.

Done that already Malcolm.....twice......with our daughter.
Plus OH had an aunt who lived in Watford so we used to stay there regularly and visit the sights in London.
The bright lights hold little attraction for us these days, we prefer the quiet life!
My winter list is starting to take shape......our new kitchen units....changing out a radiator......DD's study to get new cupboards.....our loft to clear out......my workshop and tool store needs a good tidy......and OH refuses to set foot in my study anymore so it needs tidied too. Far too much old paperwork hanging around.
Grandchildren to visit too. Never a dull moment here!

Tammygirl good outcome with your motorhome. I expect it will be a mistake whoever did the service won't make again! Good excuse for a day out, try to find somewhere dry 😉. Pleased your teeth are OK.
Corners I like a bit of shredding, therapeutic and satisfying. Biggest bug bear is allowing the shredded to cool every so often. A beautiful day here, extension lead and sit in the sun shredding with a cuppa - productive sun enjoyment 😂
Had z heavy shower this afternoon but glorious again now, had some threatening looking clouds at times but they passed.

Drove back from Countisbury today and came across some M/Homer friends who had had a blow-out on the outskirts of Taunton. Fortunately no damage other than a shredded tyre. Given that there is much discussion on tyre age, the item in question was four and a half years old. Check your tyres folks.

Probably won't affect you personally but if you need to do a identity check for example the DBS (Disclosure Baring Service) then you have to produce two items to show where you live, a bank statement bill or recent utility bill to prove you live at the address you claim. Some of these check won't accept the 'paperless' printed off from your computer version, it has to be one posted out to you. So it is worth keeping some of the old fashioned versions around.

They asked me to work an extra 15 minutes last night because one of the other drivers was off sick. So I finished work at 22:45 and got back home at about 23:10 last night. Too late to get back to our pitch so the Smart car was parked overnight in the car park by reception.
Enjoyed the steak and chips with red wine back at the caravan last night. It was midnight by the time I got to bed and the end of my birthday for another year!
Back to work again for another four hour shift tonight. It was very busy last night becaus they have taken over the East Worthing area. The head torch came in useful as I had to deliver in the dark for the last two hours.

Rain overnight, but bright start to the day now. Planted some seeds with the grandtwins yesterday. Might have a walk along the beach today to see if sand martins are still about. Breakfast first listening to Sounds of the sixties on the i-player
