Hi all, has anyone stayed at an affiliated site and what exactly does it mean?

Thanks

Having just read yet another disappointing review of an AS ( this time Grant own on Spey) it left me wondering just why the club continues with this system.

I have used over 15 AS sites in the last 6 years and have generally been pleased with all but two. One that I did not take to was The Ranch near Maybole I think. It however seems a popular site with good reviews and so it may be me. The other was Royal Vale near Holmes Chapel. The site was clean tidy, well located but a bit characterless and overpriced. So I can't really say that it did not deserve a place given it is well located.

Apart from those two there are none that I would not re-use.

We recently used Fields end water near Ely. Compared well to CC sites we thought, a hard standing serviced pitch £23.50 in August... We didn't want a serviced pitch particularly, but all HS are serviced, and indeed so are some grass ones and they are slightly cheaper.. It also is adult only as there are fishing lakes on site.

We stayed at Newcastleton in the Borders and found the facilities just as good as any CMC sites and lower priced.

I think that about 20% of the Clubs sites listed are in fact AS. 43 sites altogether. I reckon I have used at least 21 of them over the last 9 years and a few more than once.
