Bromyard Downs
We are at present on this site which is showing on it's online booking that all pitches are taken, however as of this moment there at least 4 empty pitches, one of which is hardstanding. I wonder how many potential visitors have been put off from trying to book a pitch because of it showing full on the web site.
Also it states in the site information that there is public transport from outside the site entrance to Hereford and Worcester. However it does not state that dogs are not allowed on the buses. As we deliberately booked this site so as to visit both places it's a great disappointment that we won't be able to use them, not wanting to leave our dog in our van. I would think that many others, particularly M/H's, will not be too please with this situation either.

I just wonder how far the Club should be expected to go in terms of providing every detail of what is available locally. I always do my own research as far as public transport is concerned as knowing there is a bus stop within a mile is not very helpful. Much of the research I do takes me to third party websites and I have never seen any reference to dogs. This would be a useful thing to mention in a review, as these are monitored it might bring about a change in information.

As "mentioned" before about "non full" sites I would think the site staff are not wanting to "let" all the pitches as what would you have done if all the pitches were "let" and then some one (as happens) is taken ill and cannot leave or has a breakdown so there was not a pitch when you arrived, and as we know when try to get pitch it "pays to talk"

Don't know if you are familiar with this site, JVB, but even if all the pitches had been let there are still spaces & EHUs here that could be in case of an emergency used should the need arrive.
As for phoning, I'm sure that some members would not consider doing that if they saw that, on line, the site was full.

The site information page strangely shows only 30 touring pitches, but 36 total pitches, 18 of which are hardstanding. If there are 6 non touring pitches, perhaps they are seasonals not in use. It would be odd though for so many to be absent at the same time.

Here's another area for doggie people to avoid then from the BBC. Not for dogs

Thanks to CT I picked up the info about no dogs on buses in Herefordshire a few years ago. I frequently see caravan owners as well as motorhomers using buses, mainly because of the convenience of bus passes and not having to find a space in crowded car parks in popular areas. There's often a queue for buses at Hillhead and I wonder if they'll take all the dogs, they usually do but not always. There is a dog fare too. Bristol drivers aren't keen on more than one or two and I can understand why. So areas vary but certainly having details about the nearest walkable bus stop is good. Some bus routes offer spectacular views, the Keswick/Honister bus, the Jurassic Coast Bus, the Plymouth to Dartmouth ones are good examples. You'd never see the views from a car and bus drivers are good at getting through impossible lanes!
Might be an interesting thread to start, good bus routes, I'm sure there are lots out there.

Nothing, but one of the reasons that we came to this site was to make use of the public transport. We try to use the car as little as possible, walking or taking the bus whenever we can.

The seasonal pitches are all in use, Steve. I've not been round this evening but there's at least one H/S not being used tonight as it has a bollard on it. However there could well be a good reason for that as the elsan tank cover is adjacent to that pitch and perhaps they are coming to empty the tank tomorrow and the wardens don't want a unit on that pitch. I'll be out later and will see what the situation is then.
