VW Touareg Fan Issues

I am looking at getting a tow bar fitted to a 2015 Touareg but after ringing round for prices am getting conflicting info regarding the fan. Some are saying I need to upgrade from a 600w to an 850w to be able to tow and preserve the warranty, has anyone else encountered this or any problems? Thanks

    Have a look at page 2 of this subject - this has already been discussed. Basically when I bought my Treg new in 2015, I checked with VW and they said that if you tow anything at all without upgrading the fan, you would invalidate the warranty for relevant faults.  I then argued that nowhere in any of the advertising did it say that the 3.5 ton towing capacity was subject to a fan upgrade and threatened to pull out of the deal.  VW relinquished and agreed to stand the £850 charge for upgrading the fan, themselves.  Nevertheless, it did still cost me £1200 for the dealer to fit the towbar and electrics but I didn't have a lot of choice but to pay, again for fear of affecting the warranty. That said, everything on the car is integrated with the caravan and I have had no problems at all with it.  If you can find one with the factory-fitted towbar, it will automatically have had the fan upgrade done.
