Heads up for anyone else like myself who thought that BPW "Diamond" wheel locks x 2, "Robstop" Hitchlock and manufacturers alarm would stop my van being stolen, on 9th August from Bicester in Oxfordshire my Elddis Avante "Riva" 2010 was removed without trace, no drag marks, debris....anything left behind (it also had a 3.5 truck parked in front of it)!  So if anyone spots a "Riva" Avante on the road or parked up please contact Thames Valley Police to ascertain it isnt stolen.......apologies in advance to any legit owners but I am speechless that security products marketed as the highest standard and endorsed by the likes of sold secure and thatcham are actually useless if thieves decide they want your van, I had spent approx £700 on security products that may as well have not been there at all.........

Yes, I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, no security devices will stop a determined thief.

I know of a recent attempted theft of a T/A Elddis with similar security devices fitted. That was in East Anglia. Feel free to email me if you think there might be a connection (see profile) and I'll forward your mail to the person concerned.

Petal, the only reason you fit security is to satisfy the insurance company, my Elddis was stolen in 2013 from a bronze Cassoa. They came over 2 fields, filled in a ditch, cut through a 30,000v fence, overcame 2 alarm systems, removed the wheel clamp and Hitchcock and towed it away! These are professional caravan thieves and they really know what they are doing and what they want. . As you say, If they want it they'll have it. Mine is now on a gold Cassoa. Every time a new 'security ' item comes out, they have time and the incentive to study it and find a way around it. I am so sorry that your van went. It's gut wrenching. Like your whole world has caved in- but the club insurance was brilliant and sorted it for me. I do hope you get sorted and are back on the road soon.

These  days with flat back lorries, Hiabs that all look like breakdown vehicles they could actually lift the van onto the back and sadly no one would even bat an eyelid.

As people we seem to be more insular than we were 20 years ago and we keep to ourselves which is sad.  very sorry to hear about your loss.

My bet is on the travellers, they won't bother about cris registration, like if someone was to buy it privately. Sorry to hear about your loss if it was mine l don't think l would want it back if found
