Insurance
Its that time of year again. CC offered AXa at £18 more than the comparative sites for the same Insurer and same excesses - Both AXA. Why I wonder. The renewal quote from SAGa was even better. After discussing the £25offer by CC to beat a quote SAGA matched the discount. Ended up saving £40 on a £200 quote. Some of the others on the web sites were more than £100 dearer. Moral shop around and haggle. Ended up with a 5 star policy with better benefits than others at a substantially cheaper price. Beware however on the Web sites that they are quoting on a like for lie basis, ie Excesses Unisured drivers, curtesy car etc. Do your homework carefully Never have I been able to Insure anything with the club on price..

One insurer to consider is NFU Mutual. Their cover is as good as the best and better than most. Auto Express has put them in 1st place for the last 10 years plus apart from 1 year or so. You're never more than 13 miles from an NFU Mutual office so call in when passing to get a quote. You'll have the human touch from people that get to know you. Claims experience is impeccable.

I absolutely agree, Paolo. NFU may not be the cheapest but they certainly aren't the dearest and cost isn't everything. Their efficiency, accessibility and no nonsense claim handling is second to none in my experience.

NFU Mutual have no shareholders so they are there to serve the policyholders. As there are no shareholders a proportion of the profits (which vary annually) are returned to policyholders on renewal of each policy. The amount varies depending on long you have been with them. I've been with them for yonks and this year my policies have a 17% rebate which is the highest I've ever seen in over 30 years.

I had a look at NFU online the other day and it appeared that they only covered camper vans. Did I misunderstand?

Yes, you misunderstood, CY. Give your local office a ring and they'll give you a quote. You can also insure your car and get a discount on the second policy. Remember you have to earn NCD for a second vehicle, as with any company.

Aspenshaw. Can I enquire how old your vehicle is? NFU MUTUAL provide new for old in the event of theft or right off for the first two years of being new. This is only one of two companies offering this.
Also what was your windscreen excess you paid?

I've just renewed my insurance for my motorhome. The CC was over £50 cheaper than Caravan Guard and that was without any special offers or offers to beat renewal quotes.
I'm happy to have gone with them this year but I bet I have to change companies again next year, same with the house and car policies. Always shop around although at the time it does seem a waste of my time on earth

Snap! We too are with Comfort, and have had not 1, but 2 A-class windscreens replaced through them. Very efficient in the handling of it all.
Excess was £75, which, on a windscreen which cost, we were told at the time, over £2600, was pretty good! Especially as, in our case, it happened twice in the space of 15 months.
