Help...Remind Me Why I've Bought A Motor home!
It's Wednesday and I'm inside my motorhome with dog and wife escaping the wild torrential rain we are curently having here at Slimbridge. Looks like we'll be in here for a few hours watching Jeremy Kyle with our expresso coffe machine working hard. My water proof has given up being waterproof and my shorty wellies don't even want to go outside..
So could somebody remind me why I bought a motorhome? Alternatively if it's sunny where you are let me know and I'll boot up the sat nav and move....

You bought a motorhome to have the independence of locations .Move on if you don't like the park up.you've all your comforts and belongings around you (no trapesing back and throw to car/C/van) It's all under one roof ..When you move to site see ,no return journey eating up juice, just pastures new.You take your luxuries with you on board ,not leave them at home (or behind in C/van) No hooking up on towbars, lighting cables, swaying 'van behind you ,extention mirrors, blind spots, reversing performances, hours of putting up the ubiquitous awning and getting it away before it gets rained on !! Restricting towing speeds ,Use the M/home at/on a whim to do a snatched week-end,it's all loaded ready for you.
On my fourth M/home now ,,love it !!.

..incredible as it seems, MHs have engines, too.....

Are we to name all vehicles as stated in their V5s, JV?
What a pain! I can no longer say 'car' but must say 'Petrol Car' or 'Diesel Car'.
D'you know what? I'm going to stick with 'MH' and 'car' as I'm sure all sensible people will. Try it - you might find it catches on.

Is it old fashioned speak?, as in-'Baby has grown I now need to buy a new Perambulator' Pram to the under 70's

Gave up on the UK many years ago. Can't see any pleasure in sitting in a van or Motorhome in the rain. I'd rather be in a hotel.

Hells teeth....I doubt it is the rain that made you feel depressed....you need to kick the Kyle habit! Enough to make anyone feel bad!
Glad things got better. Take a look at Paramo waterproofs, you won't even notice the rain!

Hi The Searles. The sun and wind came out yesterday PM and dried out everything so had a lovely walk along the canal with pub drinkypoo afterward. Moved this morning to Minchinhamton Common for another walk and lunch on board. Home now for a week before trip to Bridport Coast.

depends on lots of things...from size of van....many towns have on street parking if one is prepared to walk a little, also supermarket car parks henerally have plenty of space, but again, away from the entrance......most folk wont walk more thsn a few yards....
no need to feel guilty of ypuve spent a fewquid there...

For me one of the best bits of motorhoming is having the electric bike on the back. I can cycle with doggie in large basket and explore each location more. Best cycle ride was national cyckeway route 5 along the north wales coast. Dedicated bike tarmac path running along the coast..

if you're able/prepared to stroll a few hundred yards into your 'destination' there will usually be on-street parking, where most vans can get into a 'space and a half'..
...this far out, most folk would rather pay £10 at the multi-storey, leaving the outer parking more available for those, like me, who wont pay for parking on principle (ill walk miles instead) or have need of larger spaces.
its the natural way of things, however, it requires a modicum of effort
yes, our 6.4m van not as easy to park as the OH Fiat 500, but then again, we couldnt live in that for 30 weeks a year
