We've stayed at Knaresborough. We enjoyed being on the site, the restaurant was a bonus so we hope the refurb includes a nice updated version. When we stayed the eating area was in a conservatory type building with a small bar area.
As we have a motorhome we decided to go down to town by foot. There are some excellent woodland walks just outside the site over the main road. We could have spent hours walking in there but we followed a route to town, found a pub for a lunch and had a really good wander round. It's a lovely old town with the castle and riverside plus good shops so we did as much as our legs could manage and then got a bus back up to the site.
The following day we took the M/H to Harrogate and visited the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr a short distance away. We like gardens so had a pleasant time strolling around and tea at Betty's tea rooms in the gardens was another treat.
It was a short visit as we were moving on but Knaresborough is a good base for seeing so much more.

We visited Knaresborough site in September 2005. Would have been our return visit as first stop on last tour if it had been open. As it wasn't we used the Ex CC site at Harrogate Showground. Did visit Knaresborough however and a pleasant town.
The thought of onsite restaurant holds no appeal at all for me.
