Hi bc....in the past I have gone to a motorist discount shop and bought "kill rust"  just brush on with old paintbrush leave a while and wash off..be carefully though I believe it has some form of a acid in it...does work and saves hard work...good luck...David

I did my hubs last year and yes, I did the same as Tigerman, jacked the van and removed wheels use emery paper, wire brush etc then use killrust. I painted with a high temperature paint as the hubs could get hot, I used black paint as it helps to emphasise the alloy wheels. Finnegans is a good paint to use also.

I've done this to caravan wheels over the years.....

I use a wire brush type attachment in an electric drill, then a coat of Kurust, then silver (or whatever) hammerite......

    Job done....smile
