I was just checking Bridlington availability, as when we booked it I could not get all the days we wanted. However, it is now showing  to be totally booked for all pitch types throughout September, with the exception of the 10th September on a standard pitch. If true it is very good news for the club, but even Chatsworth is not that busy, or on a smaller scale the popular site of Fairlight Wood near Hastings.

It will just be the website, usual shocking state of affairs. A telephone call is far more reliable.

edit: just recalled friends telling us about redevelopment at Brid. Apparently lots more pitches going in, so suspect closed after school holidays. Would have been a good idea to flag it up on Site webpage, but I did find it hidden in redevelopment section!

    Steve

I can believe it. I was trying to book five consecutive days there for about the third week of July and was frustrated by there being one day in the middle that I couldn't book, this was midweek. Fortunately the week before was easier so we just changed the dates of our trip by moving a week earlier. It's only got 75 pitches so it's not a large site although it is currently being extended to double its size. Having said that during our stay there were free pitches most nights but not many.It is a nice site and fairly good location but I found it very expensive given that we moved from there to Poolsbrook with almost identical quality of facilities but at £9 a night difference!!! I am sure it's all down to location, location, location!!!

I know of two nice CLs close by, one with HS. No loos or showers though, but a good price!

Not sure why the extension would have a major impact on the existing part of the site. The contractors have completely separate access to the building site. There maybe some localised disruption when they connect the site roads up but not sure that will be enough to close the site?

Doesn't actually say it is closed DK, so I am still puzzled. Just says more pitches going in. A telephone call to site will probably reveal all. Our friends like the site in Winter, a lot cheaper then. We prefer to be further out at Bempton or Flamborough. Not keen on Bridlington, the town. Sewerby is very nice though.

When we were there in June the works to extend the site meant that quite a number of pitches had to be taken out of use due to putting in a new electricity supply for the extension. Talking to the wardens and looking at the plans as the works progress it will inevitably be necessary to at least temporarily take out of use different areas and pitches. At least when it's completed the site will more than double in size I believe.

It took some finding I can tell you! Under U.K. Sites, scroll down, click on redevelopments. Tells you a bit there.

On the plus side, looking at work happening on sites, quite a few have open grill MH waste points going in, so that is good. Well for MH owners it is! Although no reason why adjacent vans with wastemasters couldn't use as well if no danger of being flattened by a MH!

Not quite the full story TDA. UK Sites then Club SItes and then scroll down. No time scale or impact info.

    Bridlington, East Yorkshire

81 additional pitches with improved access (14 of which are fully serviced with grey water disposal and 18 of the new pitches will be 12m deep to accommodate larger outfits)
    Two new service points
New central amenity building including toilets, showers and laundry area

If you want to look at the full development plans you can access them on the East Riding Council website. The latest plans from April 2017 show a new one way traffic flow into the extension by extending the road from the end of the cul de sac to the dog walk/play area across. The road will then exit back into the present site past the bottom pitches and the car park. There is one of the new MH waste point shown on the new extension. Hope this helps.

No, not a full story. All sounds a bit car parky to us! Ok for Winter use.

I'll look out for the 12m deep ones.  They'll be the ones with the micro camper plonked in the middle.

Love the walk from Flamborough Head to Bempton RSPB reserve, done it many times when staying at West Ayton site.

We find West Ayton is central to where we like to visit, i.e Whitby to the north and Bridlington to the south. We have also done some great walks, one being at Great Ayton to the north, up and around Captain Cooks monument and Rosebury Topping.

The reason for the highly booked up nature of the site has become clear. We have received this email from the club today:-

    Dear Member

Bridlington Caravan and Motorhome Club Site closure from 1st October - 20 October 2017 inclusive

As you will be aware, Bridlington Caravan and Motorhome Club Site is currently undergoing major redevelopment works to improve existing facilities and also to increase the number of pitches available to members in 2018.

As a result of this it has become necessary to close the site between 1 October – 20 October 2017 inclusive to reduce member inconvenience and facilitate these works which unfortunately means that bookings for this period have to be cancelled.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience and be assured that The Club has not taken this decision lightly but practically, there is no way the site can remain open during this time.

To make arrangements easier for you, we will automatically cancel your booking, however we can suggest some great alternative sites that you may wish to try instead:

    · Scarborough West Ayton (17 miles from Bridlington) telephone number 01723 862989
    · North Yorkshire Moors (29 miles from Bridlington , No toilet block ) 01947 810505

Fortunately at the moment Scarborough has availability, so we booked there instead. No service pitches there like Brid though.☹️
