Transfer of warranty - out of time?
We bought (privately) a very nice 6 month old Elddis Accordo in Nov 2016. Due to ignorance of the fact plus our travelling and generally enjoying ourselves with it, I did not inform Elddis of the change in owner until July 2017. They have emailed to say:
'We can confirm that as the 2nd owner a request to transfer the warranty on your vehicle must be done within the 1st 3 months of your date of purchase. Therefore, if this is not requested within this time then unfortunately it is with regret that any remaining warranty on your vehicle will be negated. Please refer to the warranty section of your owners handbook for your information and reference.
However, we can advise that you can purchase an additional independent warranty agreement from a company called MB&G, of which they can be contacted on 01912596378.'
Is that it or have others in the Club made the same mistake and been able to keep the warranty going? The 2 years are up in May 2018.
Any advice would be appreciated. There are no snags with the van and we are really pleased with it as our first motorhome.

James my only experience was with a Peugeot car that I sold privately and it went wrong (no surprise to me but my dealer/workshop had assured me it was fine). New owner asked if I was prepared to give their dealer the go ahead to fix it which I did and they did it. So if you have a problem perhaps you could try that. Best of luck and happy touring.

I wouldn't worry about it, JM. You're only talking about the Elddis warranty on the conversion with 9 months left to run.
Your base vehicle warranty with Fiat will still be in place.

On an earlier thread I recounted the story on our four year old Bailey which was part exchanged at a dealers and then sold on to a private buyer who failed to notify Bailey that they were the new owners. Result? A £5000 bill for damp repairs. The van had already been back to Bailey factory twice for damp repairs whilst in our ownership.
