We got the caravan pitched all right on arrival at site on Lancing Fruit Farm but had to use levelling blocks. After that we swapped over cars as planned. We spent the afternoon in the caravan with the aircon because it was too hot to go out anywhere. In the evening, it clouded over and became cooler, so we went for a walk at about 19:00 down to the end of Old Salts Farm Road and then followed the footpath to the sea front.

We saw a Static and Park Home caravan site by the sea front and thought this could be the answer for the future when we're too old to manage a touring caravan. I think they are much lower cost and therefore more affordable than buying a house or bungalow but still all the advantages of not having to empty the toilet or fetch water in the Aquaroll everyday.

We got home at 20:45 just as it was starting to get dark and spent the rest of the evening watching   the Film4 channel on TV. We saw GI Joe: The Retaliation followed by Force Majeure which ended at 01:30 a.m. so we were quite late getting to bed.

Justus2.  I suggest that your parents were luckier than most in the 60s. We did after saving hard, and a struggle to get a mortgage, manage to buy a new build house but we only had one very old car between us and no way would we have managed to buy a caravan. All our friends were in the same boat. Every generation has their own difficulties.

We're planning on an easy day today so as to get some rest before getting back to work tonight. We met the site owner this morning and paid the fees of £24 for the two nights.

Tomorrow morning, it will be time to hitch up once again to head back to Northbrook Farm CMC site. When we signed out yesterday, the warden said that they'll mow the grass where our caravan and awning was pitched in time for our return so that it will be all nice and neat for when we get back. Then time to get settled and get the awning back up once again.

Only 2 days to payday from Pizza Hut! However, I'll know by tomorrow how much my pay will be as it always shows up as pending transactions on my online bank statement the day before. So more money soon, how lovely!

Not all of them allow you to live on site all year round though Malcolm and the maintenance agreements and other T&C's can often be draconian. Certainly one our friends owned fell into this category. You have to be very careful.

Malcolm,The park home site you passed "Willow brook " which is just in front of where you are now is a residential site.Prices start from £180,000 _ £250,000. plus ground rent and council tax so not that cheap local people downsize and move there very popular. 😀

Parking is a big problem in many areas these days when everyone arrives home from work, especially in new build areas where houses and blocks of flats are usually much closer together and inadequate parking provision has been made.

DD has 2 private spaces behind her house, but I think the nearby flats only have one allocated space each, and it looks like many of the occupants have 2 cars, so all the so called visitor spaces are permanently occupied.

All that is left then is to park on the road, which is not that wide. Most do park about half way onto the pavement so as not to obstruct the road for other cars, bin lorries, delivery vans etc.

Still enough space fir a pram or wheelchair, but not good for blind people.

It's a problem that is getting worse.

House sitting for a son in law, who is a bit paranoid.

He seems to think he will be robbed as soon as he leaves the house.

Oh well, it takes all sorts I suppose.

New oven coming this afternoon, so need to move the caravan again to access the side path so I can ask them to (hopefully) carry it up to the kitchen.  Mover is not working very well, just hope it keeps going meantime.

A bit overcast off and on here, but dry meantime.  Hope it stays dry this afternoon!

This morning I was at our local Guide Hall by 08.30 to meet the heating engineer who was servicing the boilers and doing the gas safety check. Then I went to B&Q for some heavy cable to connect up the new oven.

I've not posted for a while (work keeps getting in the way) so hello eveybody. I've been a woman on a mission this morning. Swimming at the local pool at 7am, drove home, looked sunny so I put one load of washing in - then it started raining! Cooked a cottage pie, meatballs and a roast chicken. All to be portioned up and put in the freezer. My organised head won't last long.... I'll be snoozing by 1 o'clock.smile

I saw those advertised when we visited. Enjoy.

Our local cathedral does this and the theatre does it for a week or two a year.  The URC is offering some soon too.

Usually a retiring collection. A nice way to spend a lunch hour, assuming you're lucky enough to get an hour these days! They encourage you to eat your lunch of quiet food 😉

Just had a call from the Truma Service Centre to ask us to come one day earlier than we originally booked, (they discovered they  were double booked) to get the mover fixed, so now OH has had to alter most of our bookings for the third time!

Now having to set off just before the end of  the school holidays, so first night of trip is going to be very expensive, thinking to look for a suitable CL instead.

On her second rebook, she had added a day at the end, so now we will be having 2 days more away than originally planned......33 nights now.

Bright morning so decided to tackle Beinn Squlaird, a 1230 metre Munro.  Quite tough for us Norfolk trained athletes.  We got to about 300 metres of the summit before low cloud forced us to abandon, truly disapointed as the views over Loch Creranto and West over Loch Linnhe.  Back to van just in time for further battering by wind and rain.

I can see your walk on this web site OP, see here, I love the area you're in, there are some lovely walks. Low cloud has also descended on us in sunny Somerset, can't see any of the usual hills!

ps there's even the right pronunciation available, which is a good thing because it's nothing like the written word! wink

It's been pouring with rain here all afternoon. So we spent the afternoon in the caravan watching movies on Film4. I had some tea and a sandwich and will soon have to get ready for work. The rain seems to have subsided now as I type this but the forecast indicates more heavy rain later this evening.  It's the kind of weather people will be tempted to stay in and order home delivery, so it could be a busy evening.
