Tow bar Adapters
Hi all, quite new to caravanning so excuse the question if I am being ignorant !! What I am looking for is a 7 pin to 7 pin adapter (i.e it will plug into the 7 pin adapter on my towbar, with two outlets also on 7 pin ? Does such a thing exist ?? I can see plenty of 7 pin to 13 pin and vice versa, but not 7 to 7 ??

If you mean your car has one 7 pin socket (Black) and your caravan has two plugs, one black, one grey / white then no .
It sounds like your car is only wired to tow a trailer, not a caravan and it will need the additional 12s socket fitting and connected up to power your fridge, charge the leisure battery etc.....

Does your caravan have a black 7 pin plug (12N) & a grey 7 pin plug (12S)? If so, you either need a 12S socket fitting to your car to power the caravan's fridge & charge it's battery or change both car & caravan to (the better) 13 pin set up

If you can make do without using the caravan fridge or charging the battery while towing you wouldn't need an adapter, but just leave the grey 12S plug unconnected. Make sure it doesn't dangle on the ground though.
If you can't make do without them, an adapter wouldn't solve the problem anyway. You'd need a second connection as the others above mention or you'd need to convert the whole system to a single 13 pin one, at the same time adding the missing connections.

AS Lutz says it might not be essential to use both plugs. As I always use electric hook up - including when stored at home - there is no need for me to charge whilst towing. Similarly I never switch fridge to battery as it is on prior to departure and stays cold enough when towing as it is an excellent cool box effectively. I would need the second plug connection however for the atc (trailer control).
