Lotus fan assist bbq
Any of you good folks used one of these. Ready to use in a few minutes apparently. Quick and don't use much charcoal either. Do they work as good as conventional bbq's. Don't want my sausages over done !!!!!

At least they are proper BBQs being charcoal fuelled rather than those outdoor gas cooker types like the cadac. Think the fan assist is just a gimmick mind, we have used a hand held battery fan to get ours going when infrequently required and that seems to do the job adequately. Can't beat the real thing!

I fell for the blurb on Lotus - and it says what it is on the tin - lights ready to cook in about 10 mins - however - Lidl have brought out an almost identical product without the price tag. Yes it works but I found that the food doesn't get the charcoal taste because of the way it is set up. Short conclusion - I wouldn't spend my money that way again - another minus is that the fuel "basket" once used becomes VERY fragile and is not cheap to replace. It's the fan that sets it apart from others which is very clever and also the parts (excluding the fire basket) are very good quality. It is also very portable - so if it suits your style of camping/cooking go for it!

My wife is the cook. She loves her Lotus BBQ and has recently bought the Lotus pizza stone and hood to give an even greater number of options. It is expensive though and a gas Cadac may be a cheaper option.
