Glamping Pods - Unbelievable !
As we have relations who are not caravanners, I thought I would look into the cost of the glamping pods at Park Coppice for the October half term so they could join the rest of the family. We saw the two pods during a visit at Easter which are of the wooden tent (or upturned boat ) design, so I was shocked to (A) find that they cost £513 per week !! & (B) that the picture on the "experience freedom" website is of a totally different building !
I will not be taking the offer of a members 10% reduction up any time soon at this price & am surprised the club has not been sued under the trade description act ?

well that's about the going rate for those pods thing in peak. My daughter's looking at one for a holiday with her friends and its £78 pounds per night in some farm at a place called Haltwhistle (near the Hadrian's wall) That's £546 per week so the club one is actually cheaper and actually in a better place. A Tipi is £70 per night and huge tents, with proper beds and heating, but still a tent, can be had for £85 per night, or £595 per week.
see here
Also their caravan prices are more expensive than club sites too but you do get a sauna in the shower block!

I pay £30/35 sleeps 2. Excellent value. If I wanted to stay in an area that only had £500 for the week-I'd pay

Hi what you saw at Easter is the camping pods which have come from Strathclyde site which are very basic and much cheaper per night compared to the glamping pods which have all facilities built in.
But I would not pay those prices even with discount.

The only ones it mentions on this website under U.K. Holidays are camping pods, which only have beds / two chairs, plus lighting, heating and electric no other facilities. It says these are £45 at Coniston Park Coppice between 19/3 and 31/12. In the better weather I would sooner stay in a tent. Why are they not advertising these super pods on their website? Or have I missed them?

At the risk of introducing an 'over there' element, the cost of s/catering holiday accommodation in this country is exorbitant. When I was renting it out, my apartment in Spain was £350pw. You got two bedrooms, a full kitchen, lounge, communal pool and use of a parking garage. The sun was pretty much guaranteed as well. The price differential would go a fair way to covering your travel costs.

Lesbunny, you are looking at two different structures, with different prices. Coniston Park has a couple of wood (upside down ) pods, £45 per night, so £270 for a week, all in, just sleeping bags required. There are also some luxury pods at Coniston Park, more like tiny bungalows, with lots more amenities and much greater comfort. These are the expensive ones. I can't find a direct link on here to the "Experience Freedom" website, but it looks as though it is another franchise the Club have gone into partnership with to extend the range of services and accommodation types. You don't have to be a member to use I don't think.

They are the ones ET. Not much else required other than luggage! I couldn't find a direct link from any of CC headings above, but do recall a thread promoting them a few months ago.

They're made by the Swift group, a different type of static. Clever design with fold away beds, anyone can buy them, look at Swift Leisure. There's a commercial site with them not far from Coniston, I think these are for two people but some are larger like the club ones.

Hi Lesbunny and thank you for your feedback.
As others have pointed out we have two different types of pods at Coniston. We have the wooden camping pods that were installed in 2016 at a price of £45 per night that share the toilet and shower block facilities on site, and we have the newly opened Glamping Pods that opened at the end of June that are more like a hotel room with en-suite facilities, a kitchenette and a balcony with tables and chairs and a gas bbq which range in price from £69 a night for a family of 4 in low season up to £129 per night in high season.
We are offering members a 10% discount if they would like to try one of these new Glamping pods out or your family and friends can get the discount if they stay on site at the same time as you do in your van.
For more information on the Glamping Pods visit Experience Freedom.
