Caller Gas Lite Bottles
After a big promotion for "Lite " bottles at a National a couple of years back, Despicable Calor are now stopping the availability ( not that they have been readily available everywhere ) of said bottles. I do not like being conned like this so I wonder if anybody has a better solution. Considering BP have sold off their lite range and can only be obtained from Home Base the market for gas while camping is in poor state.

BP Gaslight can be obtained from many places other than Homebase, I originally purchased my 10kg Gaslight from my local tool hire company and exchange it there for a full one also. Purchase and exchange was/is way cheaper than Homebase.

Safefill work for me especially with the added good news of today from Merve in another thread - Caravan & Motorhome Chate I think. Unless you are a particularly low user of gas you will soon get your money back. Calor have been too greedy for their own good!

Gas Light cylinders are lighter, transparent (so that you can see the level) and have easy snap-on connectors. Also, as many manufacturers increased the size of their front lockers, most vans can take two 10kg cylinders. They are a far superior product to any Calor cylinder.
It all reminds me of VHS and Betamax for those with long memories. Betamax was a far better product but didn't have the marketing clout.
The Dutch on the other hand are far more sensible. You can get BP Light at almost every caravan dealer.

Good post Pippah. Calor have hung themselves on their own petard- why put up with this grasping company's policies on rental any longer.?? Safefill have given you all the choice to change things- even if you don't use much gas, a purchase of a SF would, and is, sending a very strong message to Calor and co - 'Your immensely profitable guaranteed revenue stream that you have imposed on us for the last decades has ,today ,come to an end mate! We now have a choice!! '

Google Flogas - BP Light as was - and you get a list of stockists in your area or put in your post code for nearest retailer and more than Homebase will come up. I was informed by an independent retailer that if he sells Flogas he is banned from selling Calor. If true sounds to me like a restrictive practice.

You will probable find that calor won't supply him if he stocks other brands. Calor probably supply the cages on club sites, thats probably why the don't stock other brands. A bit like Walls ice cream back in the 60's when the supplied freezers tomthe shops, but only to stock their brand.
