Good deed for the day ..
I thought I would share what I experienced during a recent stay at out favourite CL .
A couple of days back while sitting outside the caravan soaking up the late afternoon sun at our favourite CL a caravaner brought to my attention he had seen a bird of prey trapped within the Norman church that sits by the CL , I immediately went to investigate and sure enough sitting above the Alter was a exhausted but beautiful Sparrow Hawk , the main door into the church is surrounded by a low slung porch not letting in much light in , the Hawk kepted flying towards the large stained glass window presumably attracted by the light .
I had to work quickly , and found another door that was not locked , grabbed a screw driver from my car , removed two candle sticks that were screwed to the said door , held the day open , within a few minutes he flee to freedom !
After having a look around the church I noticed house martens nesting in the torch and feeding young so my guest is the Sparrow Hawk may have chased the martens into the porch , the door was open and in he went , maybe if the door had been closed he may had met a painful end by hitting the door , fortunately a happy ending
