Coarse Fishing
I've been waiting for the water to warm up a little at my local fishery. I can't wait to cast the first rig of the new year. My local holds , Tench , Bream , Roach and Perch so theres plenty to go for, I catch on all types of bait including Maggots, Bread,
Worm, Paste, Castor,Corn, and many more . I've been using a pole for the last 2 seasons but I really have'nt mastered it as yet.
Whats your favourite water ? what does it hold ? what fish are there? and what baits do you use? Oh and whats your best catch and what method do you use ?

Had some good catches over the last 2 weeks as the Bream are starting to show. The last outing Wednesday bagged about 20ib mixed bag, but lost and missed many possibly due to barbless hooks. Took Grandson Thursday he was delighted with 20 Roach and a couple of Perch,

I have been out a couple of times this week, first time since just after xmas , both times on local club commercial type, fished down the margins first time lots of carp on sweetcorn , mirrors , f1 s and commons also 1 bream and a few roach. 2 days later fished up in the water with a jigger float between 10 inch and 2 foot deep, Fed 4 mm hard pellets and a 6 mm in a band on the hook , a red letter day. I normally like to fish for 5 hours but could only manage about 4 hours each time, By the way keep trying the pole when it comes natural its a great way to fish.

Yes use the pole all the time now so does my Grandson he is only !2 and loves it.I posted this thread 3yrs ago so my initial shown post is a little out of date now. I cannot understand where all the other posts from other members have gone.Thing is, I cannot access this site on my Ipad mini which I use most of the time. But willstill be out fishing at least once a week now the weathers better. So ' Tight lines ' and thanks for the reply HSW.

Fields end water is worth a visit for some arm aching action, the fish in the pool lake really know how to fight. An affiliated site , adults only.

Going to Westfield country park in a lakeside lodge near Hull next week for a couple of nights. Never been but our lodge has its own fishing peg outside the lodge. Apparently well stocked lakes with weighty catches, anyone else been here?

It's becoming increasingly difficult to be 100% sure when determining species these days as many of the carp and closely related introduced cyprinids can hybridise, some even becoming capable of breeding themselves. Can make a 'mess' of claiming a record as you would need at best to collect a scale or two for DNA testing and that would be open to honesty. The only real way would be to kill the fish and have it weighed and verified as pure bred.

Course fishing sounds very Interesting, I've never tried it. .
. Where I come from it's all Fly fishing, ( Both Wet and Dry). Choosing the best fly and casting into likely areas on the river while wading upstream takes a lot of concentration and effort to bag a few Brown trout.
I must have a go at Course fishing though, it looks so relaxing.

Had some great bags of roach at two of my local venues, all in high 10s of pounds. all on maggot.

Fishing's a bit up and down lately , think this is due to unsettled weather. Had some really good catches in the 20s , but had some blanks as well.

Fishing's been very good at my local pond. Grandson and myself have bagged up a few times with Roach, Rudd, Tench and Bream , weights in the 20s and 30s. How have you done ?

HH some of our local ponds developed a virus from people not cleaning their equipment so my OH and pals have been fishing further away. Lots of new members have joined their club this year and they are about to take on some new waters. Good to hear you are enjoying your fishing.

I used to course fish, years ago and really enjoyed it. I then discovered golf. Time constraints dictated that it was one or the other. Golf won. I’d always envisaged a time when I could do both. Now I’m retired, I have the time. The thing is, I’m concerned as to whether or not it’s causing distress to the fish, being hooked and pulled in? I make no judgement, it’s just a concern.

I think many anglers look at the condition of the fish they are catching and in turn this helps conservation on rivers etc. The clubs work hand in hand with LEAs. Personally I don't like the idea of overfed fish in ponds but as I'm not an angler I can't stand in judgement either.
We are both enjoying the Whitehead and Mortimer Go Fishing programme on Friday evenings.

Hostahousey, my OH has been busy sending out local club licences to people who want to start angling again. Lots of them have been contacting him via the club web site, it's all been done at a distance so most pay by paypal and OH sends out the licences and details. Some started off last week but there are a few rules to keep you safe, the recommended distance is 15 metres apart. Hope you can get out soon and enjoy your hobby.

Thanks for that info........15 mtrs is a long way apart Why?
0 -
The government's advice is 2mtr so why 15mtrs for fishing when the pegs are segregated anyway and usually over 2mtrs apart. Has Golf got the 15mtr ruling as well? Seems funny to me ,I think whoever stated this has got a little mixed up.

Anyone else heard of this 15mtr distancing ?

Been a couple of times .Yesterday bagged up with some good Bream, haven't seen anyone social distancing at 15 mtrs. All sticking to the 2mtr rule.

Brue ,...Had an email from Environment Agency stated the 15mtr rule for matches only. 2mtr rule for pleasure fishing. So why they didn't make it clear weeks ago .
