We have been members of the CC/C&MC for about 20yrs and still find it good value .The club sites are of an excellent standard ,the CL network is very good ,we enjoy the monthly magazine and its just nice to be a member of one of the leading clubs.We have never had any trouble with booking and never had a problem with the wardens even when in the 10yrs we had RV,s.We enjoy the National and have enjoyed meeting people along the way ,so will definately remain members.

I can see a time in the future when the club will have to reinvent itself the current crop of well to do pensioners that use the club will become extinct . Future generations of pensioners wont have the decent pensions that are current today . Look around the sites the average age must be 70 .It will become unaffordable to many people .

Just totted up the number of nights spent and booked for this year, going into next year... might be joining the OP and not be renewing this year too.
2017
C&CC sites - 14 nights
Commercial adult only sites - 37 nights
CAMC - 2 nights
CL/CS sites - 2 nights
2018
(because the C&CC take forward bookings which I'm happy to pay the substantial deposits for, to secure our future holidays. Can't be doing with the mad rush cat fight on that special day in December)
C&CC sites - 24 nights
Not sure the annual CAMC membership which is due later this year in November is worth bothering with. No particular reason why this has happened this year, just a change in tastes I think. However, I think the booking system in comparison to the other club is one reason why, it's difficult to plan ahead with this club.

I think you're dead right with this observation, motorhomes and camper vans are the future. (and this club know it!)

I've said it on here before...............
Sadly the Club will eventually succumb to the temptation to cover its sites in "Park Homes" or straightforward retirement apartments.....as many other commercial sites have done....
It already has (or had...
) a brand name well trusted amongst older folk, probably as well known as McCarthy & Stone etc and much experience of providing warden services to people who like to witter about the weather etc in the wardens office. It's only a natural progression into the provision of sheltered accomodation......And Another David is quite right, the future path of vehicle development and so many houses now built and crammed into tiny plots mean the towing and storing of caravans will slowly become impossible.....
We're all doomed.......

Entirely agree that costs are getting ridiculous. We generally use CLs but even some of those are now £20 a night. Perhaps the electric should be metered for pay as you use, then we would really see what it cost, likewise the showers. One wonders just what the recent 're-branding' cost with all the signs, badges etc. We have used 7 sites since the re-branding and have yet to find a single user or member of staff who agreed with it. The comments ranged from naff, tacky, patronising ( the information cabin signs) and less than visible on busy roads. I have yet to find anyone who was 'consulted' about it.

I joined the Caravan Club as we do not have a motorhome and it will remain being the CC to us. By changing the name has there been a dramatic increase in membership to make up for the millions spent on a name changer? Probably another reason why the OP has decided to call it a day.
