A motor mover is invaluable for getting the caravan onto a pitch at the end of a cul de sac, into a tight spot where there's not much room to manoeuvre using the car, or to get onto a pitch sideways or nose in. On our previous caravan we had a Purpleline mover. It seemed to be a bit slow and temperamental. On our current caravan we had a Powrtouch Evolution which we find much quicker and more reliable, plus the remote control has a symbol showing which way is forward. With the old one I always had to press a button to see which way the van moved. It was 50/50 chance whether I got the right way first time, and invariably I chose the wrong one.

I would not advise getting a power touch auto engage I had one fitted to my new 4 years ago Barcelona and have had nothing but problems I must say its all been sorted under the warranty but have had some real problems on site next time i would get a manual engagement.

We have just brought a replacement caravan, something a little smaller with a fixed bed, it has a titan2 and this is the first caravan with a mover, it is rather slow and struggles a little up a small step so maybe give that model a skip.

Our auto was unreliable and we nearly converted it to manual but sold the van instead.

What's wrong with that? It's like electric flush loos. I'm a great believer in the KISS principle.

We have an e-go quattro by Purple Line. Yesterday it was pouring with rain as we sited the 'van. Today the mover remote does not work, the man at purple line said " they are not meant to be water proof" obviously not designed by someone who knows what caravanning is all about. Fortunately under warranty, a new unit is on its way to us in Spain.

You are bang on....but this is the caravan industry and not the car industry where they have to face Japanese and now German competition which forced them to up their game. I am pleased with the Powrtouch mover but took the advice of the dealer and get that there is a lot more to go wrong....and for the amount of effort to engage it manually it wasn't worth the risk, or money for that matter
