Fridge not working on gas

We have a Dometic fridge in our Adria motorhome which works fine on EHU and battery when engine running however when the engine is turned off it should automatically switch over to gas but the light just flashes and it does not work on gas. I've had a look behind the vent but can't access the gas burner (which I thought might be blocked). Any suggestions would be appreciated as we're new to motorhoming! Thanks

Have you checked that the gas isolation tap for it is on ?

Ok, you have probably checked but is the gas bottle turned on? and then on ours there is also a on off value where the pipe from it goes into the caravan at the regulator thing, and then of course there are on off values inside the van itself? Sorry if you have checked these. Is the hob working?

whilst many units are 'auto selection' not all fridges will switch fully from any one mode to any other....some will do some switching but not others.

it may be that the switch to gas (from 12v alternator) is one that doesnt complete successfully on your model....they can be quirky.

However, once parked and you switch the engine off, what happens if you switch the fridge off completely, and then turn it back on?

ill wager that, if the gas is on, it will come on to gas....after all, no engine running and (i assume) no EHU plugged in?

this might be deemed 'automatic selection' as opposed to 'automatic switchover'.

some units just dont do 'auto switching' as cleverly as you would think they should.

I'd to do some faffing with my fridge this afternoon to make 'auto select' gas. Got there in the end by doing as BB suggested ..... turning it all completely off & turning it back on again. wink Faulty EHU post on arrival at site.
