Yes, I know that a number of you will be upset for any number of reasons, but equally and hopefully considerable more, the dog owners amongst you, will be pleased.

Within the new Knaresborough redevelopment, whilst initially opposed by the Regional Manager over a long period of time, finances, local facilities, no suitable area etc, it has now been agreed that whilst it won't be elaborate, a revised review of the site has revealed that a dog walk can now be incorporated within the new development.

My personal thank you to Emma Cox Head of Site Operations for what I feel is a very constructive approach to a thorny issue.

Is there not access to the lane just outside the site via a gate any longer?

Yes, there is still access to the bridleway/lane, but with all due respect have you ever been to the site in the early or back part of the Autumn when we have had adverse weather?

The 'farmer' who operates the adjacent milking parlour is not considerate to the users of the bridleway. There is a lot of animosity between him and a number of the villagers. Due to the heavy machinery used, tractors etc and milk tankers visiting the farm twice daily it very quickly becomes a mud bath and is deeply rutted. There are never any 'running repairs' carried out and it really does get churned up. Even difficult just to walk in as a pedestrian without a dog. You certainly in my opinion would not want to walk the dog in the lane when it has been raining and then return to your van. Someone would undoubtedly get their head knocked from their shoulder so to speak.

During a nice prolonged dry period you cannot beat a walk down this lane out of the back gate and it does provide a very tranquil setting to let the dogs off. Certainly not in wet conditions though.
