Bailey Pegasus Crack in body
Our 2012 Bailey Pegasus Verona has a crack in the body under the front left hand window, its about 2" long. Our dealer was in touch with bailey and they sent an Al Ko engineer to inspect it.
We then received a quote of £5000 for a factory repair which meant taking it to Bristol, However Bailey have said that the crack is our own fault due to overloading.
The AlKo engineers report which was quite long and favourable about the condition of the caravan which we have owned since new, in the last paragraph suggests we have overloaded it.
We don't believe we have at any time overloaded it, we have been caravan owners for many many years.
Our dealer suggested we went to the insurance company, which we did. They sent out a caravan insurance accessor to do a report. The letter we received from them, states that it is a manufacturing fault and our claim was refused, We contacted our dealer again, who seem to have turned a blind eye to the situation. I have contacted Bailey who either don't reply or quote the ALko report. Any ideas where we go now?

This happened to our and many other Pegasus owners, it is a known fault and the responsibility of Bailey.
Bailey after several inspections mainly to the chassis finally accepted it was a manufacturing fault and replaced the front and roof at Bristol on our van it took 8 weeks and I must say they did a great job.
There have been several blogs on this site over the last few years regarding this issue.
I was advised that if I had to pay for a repair it could be done satisfactorily by filling and painting and this would allow you to trade it when you're ready.
I would take advise and challenge Bailey to explain why this has been a regular fault.

If you paid for any part of the price on a credit card or used HP you have additional rights under the Consumer Credit Act and can claim against the finance company concerned who will investigate and may take over the claim.
If that does not work you may have to write to the dealer and Bailey and the insurer and any finance company pointing out that you believe the problem is a fault, but if not it is accidental damage covered by the insurance. They have 14 days to sort it out between them, following which you will be issuing a small claims summons to be served on all three with them having to bear the attendant costs and follow it through. The claim against the dealer would be under The Sale of Goods Act. It is not for you to have to sort this out but them.

What a mess, not sure how they can state the problem is due to overloading! Your options have already been covered; ie Legal Dept first, Credit Card Company if you paid any part of it over £100 by CC. But your contract is with the supplier not Bailey's. Maybe a strong letter to them is called for after which you can of course go to the Small Claims Court. But yes Legal Dept first then maybe Citizens Advice and involve the CC Company.

I have had the same problem in the same place with my 2012 model Verona. The whole front and top panel was replaced by Bailey without any quibble. All done through the dealer. Unfortunately on the first trip to Europe after the repair a bulge appeared in the same place as the previous crack and it had to go back to Bailey for another 8 weeks for another panel change.
Last year when in a rather warm Spain a large bulge appeared in the shell over the nearside wheel arch and a smaller one over the entrance door, which was reported to the dealer. However now the van is at home and the temperatures are close to freezing the bulge has almost disappeared. Problem dealing with expansion. Bailey squinnied a bit about this and suggested I had either overloaded or potholed. The dealer was required to undertake an inspection which concluded that neither event had occurred. It is now going back for the near side panel to be replaced. Luckily it occurred before the 6 year warranty expired.I am now in discussion with the dealer as there is clearly an inherent fault with the van.
