The addiction is kicking in!!!
Hi everyone. myself Ian and my wife Angela purchased a motorhome at the NEC show last October and picked it up in March. We have challenged ourselves to go away each month I am home as I work away and upto now mission accomplished. Its not hard to find a campsite nearby especially the CL sites. We have just ventured out this trip to the Sussex coast from our home in Northumberland. Enjoyed every minute of it at Normans Bay. Exploring the area of Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. Pity we had to come back.
We are off again tomorrow just up the road along the A69 to Brockalee farm, a CL site for a few days before I go back to work. Then start planning for next trip.
I will be looking for some advise for purchasing an awning for my Majestic 135 motorhome. Its has an awning on the side already. A Dometic PW1000, but want a complete awning with sides and a front. If you know of any discussions covering this topic please let me know.

Hi Ian and Angela, welcome to CT. Pleased that you enjoyed your visit to my local area, and looking forward to hearing about your future trips. Sorry, I can't help you with any advice about awnings as we exchanged our motorhome for a caravan a few years ago (it suits our holiday plans better).

wind out awnings are made by omnistore/thule, fiamma and dometic.
the first two makes sell lightweight front and side panels to make a full awning . there is also a fiamma 'privacy room' a more heavy duty permanent space fitted to their wind out.
i found a front panel for a dometic, bit im sure there would be side panels as well.
the other brands may fit, too.
a company called Lillypad Leisure make universal fit panels and are likely to be cheaper.
i guess you are looking to expand on the Dometic you have and not fit a 'caravan' type awning?
...or is it a drive away porch type you're after?

If you enjoyed Normans bay and wish to return to the area try Fairlight Wood site next time. Still a well kept secret among club members,

Thanks very much. We will be returning for sure but splitting the trip up going down and back from Northumberland. Did it in one go both ways, 8 hours with a break, not advised. Especially when using the QEII bridge and the Dartford Tunnel.
Never knew about the Dart Charge, but glad I paid it online otherwise there is a £70 fine both ways.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.
We are looking at all options before deciding on which one to go for.
We will keep shopping around and see what takes our fancy. I would prefer to take the MH to a shop and get them to show me how it fits and make sure it works ok.
Thanks again.

Great to hear about your new addiction swampyn.
If you have a largish budget it's worth looking at the Thule range of awnings. With these awnings you can wind out the roof (which lives on the side or roof of the van (according to the model to get) and then add sides if you wish.
We have one on our caravan. When we toured on the continent last year we only used the wind out roof (it was warm enough not to need to worry about the sides). This year (in the UK) we have put in the sides on several occasions.
Whatever awning you have, they are often a bit of a faff to put up, but at least we now have the option of winding out the roof which is a three minute job, including pegging out the safety straps.
Have you investigated if you can get sides to fit the Dometic PW1000?

.....just Google it and you can get sides for the Dometic awning. See this link: http://www.magnummotorhomes.co.uk/en/Awnings/Dometic-Awnings-/Dometic-Camp-Room-For-PW1000PW1500.html

We have a Fiamma canopy fitted to our motorhome, we also have a lightweight 250cm awning left over from our caravanning days which we can fasten to the front edge of the Fiamma and it then fits like a caravan awning but with a slight gap at the top where the Fiamma box is. We don't often use this as we tend to holiday in warmer climates (Spain/France) where the canopy is sufficient.
Are you looking for something that you can attache to the front of your canopy (while its wound in) or are you looking to use the canopy as the roof of a room? the other choice is a drive away awning.

We are looking at all options just now. We have a Dometc PW1000 already fitted and David gave us a link for a supplier Grimsby for the sides and front that will fit the existing canopy. We are going to Withernsea next time I am home so we plan to go and visit the supplier to see what their like.
I will report back with our findings.
Thanks for the info.

Hi All, My wife and I bought our first Motorhome in July last year and just beginning to learn the ropes. When we bought the van LB Camproom awning sides were included. Unfortunately one of the sides was missing. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement awning side?

As this is an old thread, it would be better if you reposted in Parts and Accessories Section further down the main index. I can then delete it from here.
Many Thanks.
