Is it me?

I can't get my head round why people find it ok to walk through pitches in order to reach the facilities. Obviously if your on a pitch on grass in the middle of a site a route has to be found but some folks are practically tripping over the guy ropes in their haste to find the shortest route.

I'm expecting flak!!

    I am with you on that one isn't it just sheer bad manners?  But that's why some of us prefer less crowded CLs!

    I think it acceptable to walk along that notional boundary between pitches, rather than diagonally across a pitch. It is only a few extra steps at most to indicate respect for another persons space.

    walking on the gravel part of your pitch is totally unacceptable. Just tell them or make a joke, would you like a cup of tea while you're on my pitch? or tell them your dog is very angry?

    Buy a dozen plastic gnomes to use as boundary markers. wink

    Agree it is bad manners but is it not a fault of the site layout? Better layouts with pathways for the shortest distance to the facilities block/s should cure this problem.

    As long as they don't walk through/under the canopy, it doesn't bother me.

    Looking at the OP's photo I'm not sure where these people are cutting through? the van is rear on to a hedge and there is grass next to the canopy, unless my eyesight is going I can't see any guy ropes either. Would agree though that it is bad manners to cut through someones pitch, however the grass strip at the side is no man's land so is a free for all I'm afraid (although some do try to commander it)

    The last site we stayed at we had to walk between pitches to get to the water point. However it was easy enough to make that walk an equal distance between units. I think what is annoying is when people walk very close to your outfit making no attempt to respect your privacy. I think Peedee has a point in that it is often the way sites are designed as the natural inclination to to take the shortest route between A and B but site designers tend not to consider this?

    Typical  of  designers  in  all  trades,  DK,  I  could  design  a  wonderful  looking  towing  hitch,  put  it  in  a  pretty  box  and  flog  it  for  only  thrice  a  sensible  price !  But  never  having  towed  in  my  life  I  doubt  whether  it  would  be  wise  or  even  legal  to  use  it  innocent

    Similarly  nice  neat  rectangles  of  gravel  or  other  hard standing  with  fast  growing  hedges  etc  would  look  very  welcoming  on  a  sites  adverts  but  ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,

    I would go outside if I saw them approaching and talk to them about the meaning of life, and have they seen God. Bet they will be giving you a wide berth afterwards.

     I did have somebody keep walking between car and caravan at great Malvern ........... well the grass was wet! Unfortunately on about the fourth occasion they walked into the edge of our open window. They seemed upset by my laughter laughing

    It is simply rude to walk across other peoples pitches. We try to find a pitch backing on to a hedge or fence which prevents this. You can also try to make sure you are not in line for other peoples routes to the toilets or service points.

    I too remember Harry Worth,I quite like Count Arthur Strong now. My wife hasn't yet forgiven me for posting that pic. It was taken last July at Lincoln Farm Park. (No walking through pitches there),

    I was allowed to stop up late to watch Blue Peter so Harry Worth must have been on after I went to bed. I remember my parents talking about him in the morning before I went off to my chimney sweeping job.
