Lowering Motorhome seat.

I have just bought a Bailey Autograph Motorhome and even after relatively short drives I find I have severe neck ache. The drivers seat is in the lowest position but I have a long back and find that I am stooping to see traffic lights etc when up close. Does anyone know if the seats can be modified? i.e. lose the swivel plate to create an inch or two which would probably do the trick.

    yes, losing the swivel is the obvious answer but, as these (generally)  are the best seats in the house, i wouldnt be losing mine....

    perhaps there is a slightly different (lower) frame that the whole seat (and swivel) could be mounted on, perhaps check with Peugeot.

    I've heard of this problem before being caused by the extra height added by the swivel mechanism. Obviously, taller people tend to be affected more than those who may be vertically challenged. laughing

    I suppose loosing the swivel may be your only course of action unless Peugeot manufacture a lower seat base. The seat belt buckle is attached to the seat frame and is therefore type approved and will have been crash tested so any other modification may compromise this. The other consideration is the position of your head in relation to the air bag, although, as the steering column is adjustable for height you will probably still be in the zone. If you remove the swivel yourself then I recommend you disconnect the battery first to prevent the seat belt pre tensioner firing off.

    I have a Bailey motorhome and I am pretty sure there are two positions, height wise, for the drivers seat. I remember when we first had the motorhome trying to use it in the higher position and I had the same problem as the OP. If I remember I will have a look tomorrow and report back.

    Are you sure you have it on the lowest setting? I have just been out to have a look at mine. On the driver's seat on the handbrake side there are two oblong pull handles. They raise and lower the seat. If lowering its best to sit on the seat when lowering. I have attached a couple of photos below, one of the drivers side and one of the passenger side.

    David, from memory (my latest van is different) doesnt one raise/lower the front of the squab and the other operate the rear, effectively providing a tilt function as well as changing the height?

    Yes it does BB, must say I find the seats a bit on the high side too. I have mine set at the lowest position.

    Yes that is correct. Although I have not tried it with only the front up or the back up I would have thought that would give you a very strange sitting experience!!!! If it's not obvious the photos are in the closed/lowest  position.

    You can buy a lowered bottom seat frame. Not cheap but they do the job. Being tall I had the same problem even worse with the sun blind down. It does make a vast difference. Only downside is the side panels round the seat base no longer fit so I cut an inch of the bottom all round and it looked the part.

    Your other option is an A Class .. Far better view through the front window .. Also has different seats by Aguila which have a thinner seat squab so are lower. Still use the standard fiat seat base but SWMBO notices the difference and they are far more comfortable. At something like £1800 for the front driver and passenger seat. They also have swivels.
