A day confined to the motorhome because of the rain. Did stroll to the office for some info but decided not worth getting soaked! Didn't put the walking boots in this time and their bag contains our waterproof trousers 😢. It's been wet but we've been out and about in Liverpool since Saturday so no walking and confined to motorhome not much of a hardship. We haven't got wet either- the devil takes care of his own 😉? Hoping the rain will ease in a mo so we can walk for a bit of fresh air. Taken in Armed Forces Day, both cathedrals, Albert Dock, China Town, Liverpool 1, the three Grace's, ferry crossing the Mersey and much more. Plus a good look around Southport but not yet made it to the pier or botanic gardens nor Formby! Port Sunlight tomorrow regardless, 15 minute walk to Birkdale station hopefully in the dry again. All this follows fabulous few days at Lincoln doing cathedral castle steep hill etc. So welcome opportunity to catch up with posts on here. It's not got warmer than 12 all day so glad of heating which has been on all day, not cut out once!
Glad to here all your news too much to mention in this post. Stay dry folks. Hopefully it will have rained at home as well as I suspect our garden needs it.
Sad news on Monday son's girlfriends dad passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer 4.5 years ago, a bit swift suddenly. 67 is no age. Make the most of every day folks!

Pity the weather's not so good B2 but it sounds like you have visited lots of interesting places already.
Sorry about the sad news, you're right 67 is no age at all.

So sorry to hear about your son's girlfriend's father B2. You are right, 67 is far too young.
Sounds as though you are making the most of your trip to despite the weather. I have always fancied exploring that area. Hope the weather picks up for you so you don't get cabin fever.😀

I actually put the fire on for a while this evening although Mr H wasn't impressed. Grandson's sports day tomorrow unless it is rained off. I think I will dig out my thermals

I was surprised to read that you needed the heating. I guess it must be a lot colder where you are than down here. We're still using the air-conditioning!

I used ours in the car Malcolm, but only to demist the windows, the heating was still on. I don't know about down there but the outside temperature at 6pm yesterday was 10.1 C in Notts. That compared to 29 C a week ago. The second figure is aircon weather, the first most certainly not. We put some heating on in the house yesterday evening.

We got up to a fairly cool morning. The rain has stopped but there's still a lot of heavy grey cloud around. With a bit of luck, I might get some dry weather for my shift this evening. I'll be doing 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Although the days are drawing in, it's still light for most of the evening, so much easier to find addresses in the daylight. The last half an hour is harder because of the fading light.
We had cereal to start with for breakfast followed by sausages, egg, bacon and tomatoes with toast. Plus a cup of tea.

How many sugars Malcolm?

We all know he's sweet enough TDA.

Doesn't surprise me in the least Malcolm, you've been told before that where you live is possibly one of the warmest places in the UK. Ever since we got back we've had the heating on in the morning and evening to take the chill off.
Pouring with rain again today, really grey skies more like March or October than the end of June
OH been busy this morning first to his men's shed group meeting, after that he's been busy working on the door fly screen from the van. Think he has worked out what he needs to do to mend it Although we keep the van clean and often brush and vacuum the rail threshold its amazing how much 'muck' gets in there. It would appear it was a tiny piece of grit that caused the door to jam and break the thread.
Off to see OH's consultant again this afternoon reference his shoulder, it was fine when we went on holiday but after banging it one day it started to play up again. It seems to be settling down a bit but as he had an open appointment to go back for a review thought it best to get it checked again. fingers crossed he doesn't suggest an Op.
I've had a lazy morning pottering around the house doing bits, made a pot of soup for lunch (chicken and noodle) half of it now gone. Hope tomorrow's drier then at least we can get out and do some work outside.

Just a heads-up to any dishwasher owners. We went to Staples today as Margaret wanted a couple of document trays for her desk. On the way out I noticed a large pile of Finish branded dishwasher tablets, 90 per box, at £5 which seemed amazing value to me. So if you have both a dishwasher and Staples it might be worth a visit?
No idea why a stationers is selling dishwasher tablets!!!

Forgot to say congratulations and felicitations to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries - I missed that off yesterday sorry.
Jolly chilly windy but dry day around Port Sunlight. Very enjoyable and a beautiful development - would that all developments were as attractive and spacious! Must be even more attractive in the sun as opposed to leaden skies 😉. Loved the church which I thought more attractive than the Anglican cathedral in Liverpool, granted there was a school leaving service in the cathedral so we were unable to walk around. Sorry if that upsets some 😉
Last night here off to a private site tomorrow once we've visited Formby. A few days to visit my late Godmother's husband.
Hoping that last week's weather might return it's only just 15c today and cool wind. I didn't want it too hot for sightseeing but it didn't occur to me it would be this cold in June!
One thing I have to say is what a fantastic good value for money service Merseyrail offer. Frequent trains Sunday included. Starting early finishing late. A ranger ticket which was from Southport and over to the Wirral £5.20 each and that includes the buses, £5.10 without. At home a similar commute to London time wise and distance over £20 and almost every trains tanning room only.......

I rather like the idea of a tanning room on the train Bakers2 😂😂

Spent 2 hours at grandson's sports day this morning and froze to death. Very proud though as he won 2 of his races and came second in his 3rd. We have put our heating on this evening as it feels more like October than June. 😩

Predictive text eh....I have to go through my posts several times to edit out things, even then I miss them. Yesterday I kept getting "dies" instead of "does" which didn't look good.
The Brues have succumbed to heating too, can't believe it after last week!

Oh yes heating on as soon as we got back in. Gee that wind of the sea is chilly!
One thing I was hoping to see was the sunset over the sea. Haha what a joke last night there was a few pink clouds, which probably was the sun setting givibg an idea it was still up there! I'm not convinced haven't seen it since we arrived. Probably my own fault as I did washing on our first day as because of the heat things needed freshening, they've not been used since we arrived unless it was for a base layer!
It is very grey and looks like we could more rain. Still we've been lucky we haven't got wet rain jackets been on to keep warm and the wind out!

When we sailed from Birkenhead to Belfast a few years ago I was so looking forward to seeing the Liver Building. No such luck - there was a thick fog.

Certainly "Staples" still exists on-line as Office Outlet Saw one in Shrewsbury this very afternoon & checked with them that many of their old stores are indeed trading under the new name. So I can justify a visit to Hanley about once every Preston Guild
P.S., An Apology for Nevers :-- I Qualified as a real 'Grumpy' today !
Went to Go Outdoors, Saltney By Chester for a folding adjustable table having checked they had one in stock. Got there & found it was quite badly damaged and U/S.
Nice kind gentle man checked around & found one at G-O Shrewsbury & very kindly got my name on it. Back to Crewe, Lunch etc and off to Shrewsbury, found the store & proved my reactions & brakes are A.O.K ! Some berk had fitted height barriers much too low for the Ducato. Parked up on the Range c/park-- no barriers, then walked into G-O Found the one table ( still on the display grrrrr ) but pleased that I'd got it. So only about 60 miles of wasted travel time --- but Grumpee was truly grumpy
