Clicking glasses!

Can members give me suggestions on the best way to stop glasses clicking together when driving along in our motorhome.  I've tried packing with towels and also putting the non slip matting between them or even wrapping it round the glasses but it all seems such a faff and doesn't always work (depends how thorough I am!)  I don't have anything against clicking glasses when filled with a nice G&T or a Chardonnay but when they're in the cupboard it drives me mad!

Change to a caravan then you will not hear all the rattles when drivingcool

You need to either stick with the faff or line your shelves with high density foam with dedicated holes cut for the glasses to sit in. Alternatively, switch to plastic.

Silencing rattles is one of the joys of owning a MH. Use your imagination.

How about good old bubble wrap ?  we get so much packaging these days with everything we purchase, might as well put it to some good use and it's all free.

    As TW says.
I used a couple of those kneeling mats, cost about £1 each. Placed the glasses on the mat and drew around them spaced apart so that they don't touch. Then cut out the holes using a toothed hole cutter in a drill of the correct size to give a snug fit. The mats were then made to fit snugly in an overhead locker that was already lined with grip mat.
Wine glasses were mounted upside down and tumblers with heavy bottoms upright.

A bit of a faff, but broad rubber bands around the widest part of each glass will stop it.

Or pack them individually in a locker alternated with knickers and vests.

I agree with Husky, that's  what we do. A pack of 5 pairs of ladies socks from Matalan £5, 10 socks plenty for glasses and mugs. No faffing required.wink

We just put them in the display cardboard box they come in in the shops, got 6 holes, 2* pint glasses, 2* wine glasses and 2* smaller tumblers.  Free and no clinking except when in usewink

For wine glasses I use a small rack of spring clips, suitably spaced, then fixed to external wall inside the cupboard.

depending upon shape of glass, one up and next one down cuts out the chinking noise.

    Turn the radio up.

Or, if desperate, waste money on one of these --

First time we came back from France with dozens of bottles of wine (still packed in their boxes of 6) we made the mistake of standing them upright - and what a racket of clanking and bangingall the way back to Yorkshire! Now we lay them all on their sides and it is so much quieter!

With the glasses in the caravan - they are all still in the Ikea cardboard boxes - no idea if they clink or not but still in one piece thousands of miles later and glass is so much better than plastic to drink from!
