Recommendations for dog friendly site and beach
We are very new to caravanning, and love it. Our recent excursions to Sutton on Sea were great, lovely site and the dog loves the sea. Problem with Sutton on Sea is a real lack of anything else to do, or placed to eat, so for us it's a weekend destination - not longer. We would like to hear if anyone else has experiences of Adult sites, near a dog friendly beach, and with nice pubs and eateries close by, for our next trip, which will be 7-10 days.
We are in the West Midlands, and driving distance is not a problem, as long as it is reasonable.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Welcome Covlocks. Most Club Sites are virtually child free during the week outside of school holidays, so have a browse through your handbook and see what suits. Many are close to coast, and of course you have dozens of CLs to have a look at as well, some adult only, near coast and dog friendly.
UKcampsites website allows you to use filters for your preferences as well, and there are hundreds of sites on there, most with reviews. If you have a particular area in mind, then take a look on town/county website, and check out how dog friendly the beaches are for that area. Usually lists lots of things to do and see as well!

Skegness Sands might fit your bill - out of the site to the beach - dogs allowed. Eatery just outside the site was open and very pleasant when we were there in November/December - it isn't right in Skeg itself but not far from the bright lights!

Bit of an exaggeration there Fish, some have restrictions, rightly so around popular town beaches, however the Welsh Tourist Board aren't thick enough to ban dogs from most beaches and careful owners know how to find good information to share their holiday with pets! Or at least this one does!

We always take care with our dog, even before we started the caravan route. It only takes one or two thoughtless people to ruin it for everyone. That is why we search carefully to ensure that we all enjoy our time away. Sutton is perfect, but as I say, it's in a bit of a time warp, and pretty much closes down after 6 or 7 in the evening. Longer than a weekend would have me clawing at the walls for something to do outside of watching TV.
I am thinking of Devon or Cornwall for my longer excursion, would be nice to find somewhere there that fits the bill.

Apart from some adult only CLs you'll probably be a bit limited finding coastal sites. Here's a popular AO site in Dorset, not far from the coast where there are some beaches which allow dogs in the summer (parts of West Bay, Hive and West Bexington for example.)

I go to the Lizard area of Cornwall for about 5 weeks each summer. There are lots of CL type sites and club sites around this part of Cornwall and on the Roseland peninsular.Dog friendly beaches are a little more hard to find during the summer-although they do exist. You can download a map for the whole of Cornwall showing which beaches are ok. I'm sorry I can't add a link from my iPad but if you google the website of the CL I use it has a link there. Marazion Club Site has lots of dog friendly beaches within a couple of miles of site. There are some fantastic CLs almost on the coast as well. Cornwall and Devon will be very busy with families next couple of months, and there will be restrictions on beaches close to towns and popular spots, but still plenty to visit. Have you tried combining looking at an OS map, with the site search on here? Shows you how far beaches are away from sites.

Hive Beach has National Trust pay & display car parks on either side of the approach with their staff around somewhere. Large car park areas on slightly sloping grass often with Campervans/M’homes/cars & motorbikes etc. From here you can walk east or west on the coast path. Have seen dogs on beach in winter when we were there.

Covlocks
Watergate Bay is a dog friendly beach. There is an independant site and a c and cc club site at the top of the hill. Regular bus service from camp gates to the beach -take your bus pass (if you have one). Also a vehicle free footpath from the top to the beach. We tend to walk down and bus back. Several eateries at the bay including Jamie's 15. We use the indie site as it has full srvice pitches, a pool and restaurant.
