Removing leaves from roof mesh

Can anyone offer advice on how best to remove dead and crumbling leaves from the fly mesh in the roof light of my Lunar 544? The roof light only rises to a height which does not allow easy access from the outside, besides which a vacuum cleaner on the roof is not a practical proposition.

    Picclino the fly mesh in our Swift pull down to clean - bit of a silly idea as all the dead leaves come down on you but at least you can clean up the mess.

    If the screen is hinged then as above 

    if the screen slides across then half close and collect rubbish

    I stand on the roof and use a hand held vacuum cleaner but on many vans the roof is not capable of taking the weight.
