Sadly after 34 years of caravanning, for a number of reasons, we have decided to park the van for good. We have had a fantastic time touring home and abroad and take with us great memories of places we've been and people we've met which will stay with us forever.

We we're hoping that we could get some advice as to the best platform to sell our 2015 Bailey Unicorn Cadiz and 2014 Landrover Freelander. Any other tips as to beware of during the selling process would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Put it on as many forums as this one, which have 'Free' Classified Adverts.  There are lots of other forums UK Campsites,  CaravanTalk, and others.  That way it's seen by other caravanners, and if you throw in a lot of equipment you may get plenty of interest.  I can't help with the tow car though -  never having sold one except to friends.

I'm sure someone will come along with tips to follow to help with the process, but our sales and purchases have always been straightforward and we've had no problems.

I used a local independant dealer to act as a broker for me.  They cleaned, displayed, advertised and handled money all for the fixed sum of £500.00.  Van sold within a month with no hassle for me and no chance of getting ripped off in a scam

Some friends sold theirs using EBay.  They sold it as a package with all equipment and awning to make it more attractive.  Certainly was,  as they got double what the dealer offered so I would definitely do as a package

I sold one through Preloved asked the dealer a price and then added some wriggle room - it went well with no bargaining!

Thanks for the advice. I've taken it all on board.

The van has extras of Upholstery upgrade, additional alarm system , motor mover and Trauma Air conditioning. I'll chuck in the air awning, Sun canopy and made to measure winter cover. Hopefully that will do the job.

    Many Thanks

Sorry to see that you are retiring from caravaning.

We have a 2013 Cadiz and looking to replace our 10 year od Crv. is the Freelander a good match for the Cadiz ?

If you include any photographs on adverts, make sure that the number plates are blurred. Our daughter sold a Berlingo and a month or so later got a ticket for an offence over a hundred miles away with a car that had been cloned to her registration.

Fortunately she was able to successfully defend it.

Be wary of using some of the obvious sites (auto trader etc) for selling the freelander, only because you will probably get plagued by every other publication or website wanting to tout for your business.

I have used eBay classified (not auction) for both buying and selling a caravan, and proving you take usual precautions re meeting point, validating transaction etc, you should be ok.

I did very well with with a 2 year old van on Preloved.  We only had one enquiry but the buyer had made us his ind that he wanted it.  He brought the several thousands of £s in supermarket plastic bags and told me he had been putting cash in the bags under the bed for a few years until he had enough to look for a van.
