Insurance claim whilst under warranty.

Hi we have a small crack on the inner side of the front caravan window between the double glazing. We have been informed by our dealership that this cannot be claimed for under warranty because the manufacturer will reject the claim saying it was caused by a stone or debris hitting the van. There is no chip on the outside.

If we were to claim on our insurance for the window to be replaced could we have the work carried out another approved workshop - or would this invalidate the warranty? The van is under 12 months old.

Anyone have any advice?

Many thanks.

The dealer is trying it on. If the windows are still under warranty the dealer is responsible for the repairs and they can claim back their costs from manufacturer. How can it be a stone from outside when there is no damage to the outside. You are covered by the CRA October 2015 re faulty goods ie the window . The only problem is to show how the crack occurred . Does it look like a stress fracture or what. There are other people on here who can advise you better but I would certainly get back onto the dealer whose responsibility it is. If you do claim off your Insurance and the window is repaired by a approved engineer then it should not impact on your warranty. But I would still think the dealer is responsible unless you know it happened by accident because of something you have done.
