Rear Marker Lights

Both rear marker lights (at the top of the back end) on my motorhome are inoperative. They are sealed on the outside to stop water ingress but I cannot find an easy way to renew the bulbs. On the inside of the motorhome the wiring end of the lights is encased in continuous trunking inside a locker. I can't see any other way of renewing the bulbs except by cutting into the trunking and if I do I have no idea what I will find.

Anyone any ideas/experience of this please? My motorhome is an Autocruise Stardream.

Just be very, very careful when unscrewing the light fittings. I had to do exactly this last week ( on our Bailey van, so it might not be the same). The screws are held in place by little rubber gromits (is that the right word?). If you unscrew them completely the gromits will fall down inside the wall of the van and be lost, so when you try to replace them there's nothing for the screw to grip onto!

The secret is to partially unscrew them and then carefully pull the whole light unit far enough forward to replace the bulb without completely taking out the screws!

Good luck! ( and thank you to the guy at Pickwick Caravans who showed me how to do it! smile )

Yes tried unscrewing them but as stated they are sealed in the body recess with silicon. Don't want to scrape it out if I don't have to.

    @ Moulesy

The grommets/captive nuts shouldn't drop off. The rubber is a  top hat section & should be push fit into the body of the caravan .... mine have a washer glued/silicone to them to aid them staying put. There's no way I could change a bulb on mine as you describe.

You sure they are lights & not just reflelectors?

Thanks for that. I understand what you are saying but I cannot get to the lights from the inside unless I cut/pull away some of the trunking. You say pull the light fitting forward but to do this I would have to scrape the silicon out from around the lens. I want to explore all avenues before I start hacking things around. Thanks again, your reply is very informative.

Lots of information to be found on ' you tube' about all sorts of things. You might just be lucky or try typing in your question. It's amazing what you can find.
