Hi

I am planning to tour Scotland in September with our caravan and was wondering if any member could recommend an overnight stop en route to our first booked site at Killin, Sterling to break the 278 mile journey. We are travelling up from North Cheshire.

    Hi expc,

We usually stop at Troutbeck when travelling in the opposite direction from you, into England. Just 15 minutes from the M6.

If you want to go further, maybe CCC's site at Moffat, or even further CC's site at Strathclyde.

Depends when you are leaving and how long you want to drive, I suppose. I'd try for Strathclyde as it gets you closer to Killin.

    Good luck, Alex.

Ghyll House CL near Carlisle is superb and just minutes from the Motorway, but depends on how far you want to cover on your first day.

There are a couple of sites off the M74 Abington junction, this one is about 5 mins away Mountview link (probably got a nice view of Tinto Hill.) A bit further is Biggar Park, nice area.smile

We usually stop at Englethwaite or Moffat but we're coming from a lot further south.
