Mysterious Door Opening - any ideas why?

The cooker in our Lunar has a storage space at ground level under the oven. It has a glass door with a catch that is of the sort where one has to push the door inwards a bit to open it and then push it again to close it. There is a bit of a mystery though. It keeps coming open whilst we are travelling and I don't know why.

I've checked the positioning of the two parts of the catch and they appear to line up perfectly. I've tried pulling the door as well as trying to move it sideways and up and down but there is no movement and the door will not open until I do it correctly by pushing the top of the door inwards to release the catch. Because it is a glass door I have to put a pad on the floor immediately in front to soften the impact when it drops which it does on almost every journey.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    Sorry, we have one, but never experienced that. Even on some very bumpy roads where other lockers have and drawers have opened. The only problem I have heard about is them not wanting to open, as the catch sticks.

    Is there something stored in the cupboard that may press against it in just the right way? It would seem unlikely but there must be a reason 😉. We've never had an issue with catches in our motorhome - unless they've not been closed properly 😉.

    Cutlery draw going in and out or fridge door opening and contents rolling down to join us 😂😂😂. But easy to hear or spot whilst travelling and stop when able to rectify.

    What make and model of oven is it?  There are other mentions when googling of caravan oven doors popping open, and a variety of solutions suggested.  What type of catch is actually on the door? The door must be subject to a lot of bouncing around, being at floor level in a caravan, and I suppose the easiest way to deal with it would be to put a box or something else in front of it to stop it opening. 

    Or you could fit some sort of child lock to it, like the Stork Childcare Oven door lock, which is heatproof, or simply tape it in place with peelable adhesive tape, whilst travelling.

    undecided, John ,from how you describe the door ,it sounds as if the catch is a 'Touchlatch'.Very common on C/vans & M/homes.One suggestion for the catch giving way is that the 'van' body is flexing/distorting as you travel Therefore moving the retaining part of the catch.I had this happen to the main habitation door on one occasion when travelling across uneven ground !! The catches can be adjusted to be tighter .Hope you sort it .

    We've had this problem, as TrikyP says adjusting the catch usually works.

    John mine did the same on our clubman SB the dealer fitted a toddle fastener at the side turned it trough 90 degree's before travelling, had 3 caravans that all did the same

    Ours is the same. I made and fitted a black webbing strap that fits through the frame and over the top of the door. Rarely use that cupboard anyway.
