It's now a couple of weeks since I had my Passat alterer and I can't say that I have noticed any difference but then I haven't done any towing.

Been done, absolutely fine, been towing this morning with no problems whatsoever!

I had our '14 138bhp Passat BM TDI 'fixed' in December. Noticed the engine sounded more 'agricultural' than before. No apparent loss of performance but fuel consumption down by 10 pc using a regular route on mways and Aroads. Biggest issue is that the main fan is on every few days going through its 'regeneration' process. Took the car back after 2 weeks and was told it needed 'forced regen' to clear DPF. VW garage wanted £ 96 but eventually did it FOC. The DPF light has never been on. Having read lots on various sites the theory seems that more soot is now being generated and gathering in DPF. Also EGR valves are affected.
Towing caravan for service on Monday, albeit not loaded with 'stuff' will see how it performs.
Not sure about keeping the car long term now, somewhat worried.
Had a Mondeo 2.0 TDI remapped some years ago. Brillient. Agricultural noises all went, fuel consumption improved by min 25pc performance also improved. Had same guy remap our last Passat 2.0TDI very little difference except improved flexibility.
Was considering remapping current car, but having doubts now.

I work for a dealership with a SEAT franchise on site. I can tell you from my involvement on Customer Care that overall there have been very few issues post completion of work.
The one exception to this has been Ibiza diesels which appear to have developed EGR problems. In total we have had 5, but please remember we have seen a "lot" of cars through the workshop. In all cases even cars outside of warranty have been rectified by SEAT either on a warranty basis or goodwill for those out of warranty.

I have a 2L 140TDi BMT Passat Executive Style estate that was 'done' almost a year ago by Syntner VW. I can honestly say that not only have I noticed no change in performance but if anything the fuel consumption has improved by a few percent.
My service person (formerly a Skoda dealer and still a specialist) told me that the way to find out if you had the dodgy software was to floor the throttle when stationary on tickover. If the revs limited at 2500 then you had the dodgy stuff. Curiously mine has been done and still limits at 2500. Hmmm.........

I am still undecided. The problems arise with injectors and EGR valves which are worn but still operating ok with the old software and VAG are now acknowledging some claims for cost of fixing faults which come to light as a result of the fix. I have read use of premium V power type diesel fuels helps. However I don't understand how the fix was carried out on a car early last year when it wasn't even available at that time.......

I am on a Yeti forum and the ones that have had the "Fx" have all but 1 had problems.
It annoys me the way VW deny it has anything to do with the fix. Funny how the problems start after it tho'. Do they think the fairies did it?
