Follow the instructions and map on the website for this Club and the other Club  -  via Totnes and Kingsbridge.

This is the site known as Start Bay. Do not deviate from the route the club recommends. Roads in the area are extremely narrow with buildings lining them in the villages. You will think the recommended route is bad but the alternative is worse. Check out Google Earth.

At the end if the M5 continue towards Plymouth and take the Dartmouth/Totnes turn. When you reach the outskirts of Totnes take the Kingsbridge turn. Continue to Kingsbridge and follow the route to Torcross as per sure instructions for either Start Bay or Slapton Sands sites. The last bit has narrow sections.

Very good farm shop and restaurant next to the Start Bay site, two pubs plus pub on sea front. Two excellent pubs in Slapton nr the Slapton Sands site. All within strolling distance. Good scenic bus service to Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, more eating there! smile

If you go swimming there, you may find your assets frozen.

Ours too. First went there in 1986 in an old split screen VW campervan and although we now spend nearly all our time outside the UK, we have to have regular visits to Slapton Sands C&CC site - if only for the sea views. Returned home just before the half term week after another 2 weeks there.

Agree with the above posts re the route. Although the last section is through narrow village streets it is on (literally)  a double decker bus route and we always find drivers courteous and patient.

Can thoroughly recommend Hope Inn at Hope Cove.

In Dartmouth, go and sit on a bench at the "Onedin Line Quay" (Bayards Cove), get excellent fish and chips from the nearby Rockfish, and a drink from the Dartmouth Arms on the quay, and sit watching the boats and the activity on the Lower Ferry.

The road from Kimgsbridge is very narrow in parts school buses use this road if you meet one then who goes back.? I don't know how many times iv'e had to stop and reverse for large vehicles to go past that is in a 4 x 4. As said earlier there are houses and other buildings that overhang the road. Best of luck on your journey. Personally i would not tow along this road.

Try it driving a lorry loaded with hay of straw, Briang. It's sure an eye opener realising how many people are incapable of reversing their cars.

I've heard complaints about agricultural vehicles using the narrow roads. Err, sorry but the farm's down the end of this lane!
