Stopover advice please

Hi all I'm heading to the New Forest site in mid June and would appreciate advice on the best place to stop for an overnight, I was thinking about Chapel Lane Club Site near Birmingham but I'm not sure how handy it is to get onto the M42 from there.

Also any suggestions on a good motorway service area for caravans off the M6 midway between Edinburgh and Birmingham. Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Chapel Lane  is easily accessed from the motorway, or if you want a quality private site with hard standing then Somers Wood at Meriden is also suitable, and it's one we have known for years.

If it's just for one night and a no facility CL would do, have a look at my review of Gate Farm CL, we came down the M1 a bit further to take the M69 to get there, but I think it would be just as easy from the M42.

    Hope that helps! smile

Edit - just re-read your OP and guess you're doing M6/M5 so this might not be quite what you're looking for!

Chapel Lane is ideal to get to from the motorway. About a mile and straight forward.

Can recommend the services at Tebay on the M6. Excellent food, one of the best on the whole network. (Compared with rest of the network!).

I'd also say Tebay Services or Stafford. The M6 is running very slow through Cheshire at the moment due to a "smart" system being installed, be prepared for delays.

Many thanks for all your replies, I think I'll go for Chapel Lane with a stop at Tebay Services, do they have a dedicated caravn parking area there or are we all lumped into the coach/lorry park?

The North bound Tebay services does have dedicated caravan site but only for till the end of the year. Don't know anything about the South bound services, sorry.

I haven't been but I've heard Tebay talked about as being small with very few parking bays for long outfits and that includes lorries on the southbound. Northbound supposed to have an actual caravan site.

Have a look on Google Earth for a better view
