Leaking new whale mixer tap
Hi folks, i hope someone can help. We have a 2000 Peugeot Boxer and we just replaced our old elite whale mixer tap with a new one. We have a non switched type. It is easy replacing it but we have a leak that we initially thought might have been due to the pipe not being long enough and going in a bit wonky so we added a bit on. It is still leaking and it seems like the water is coming out between the piece that gets screwed up under the basin and the part holding the pipes. It seems very strange but we cannot figure out what is going on. We cannot push the pipes up any more than they are. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

If the leak is at the joint which screws onto the tap the rubber sealing washer inside the joint may be missing, twisted or worn. If it's at the joint into the pipework and this is a "snap fit" type then you may not have pulled it tight enough to seal.

I would have thought with a brand new tap the seal should be fine. I did try to unscrew the bottom black piece that the pipes push into but it didnt want to seem to come off and since we are already in France travelling i didnt want to force it and break it and be left in a pickle. I am unsure what you mean by snap fit as this one you just push the water pipe up into each of the slots and they should be fine.

After you push the pipe into a push fit John Guest type connector you need to hold the joint and pull the pipe to make the water tight seal. Have a look at the You Tube videos under Quick connect John Guest fitting video instructions. If this is not the reason for the leak I can only think that even though the tap is new it may be faulty.
